American culture being so frivolous and celebrity obsessed is an under rated aspect of how fascism has won there. Everything in America is folksy, smarmy, superficial, cheap, self obsessed. Everything is fake and geared towards MONETISATION. There is no biting satire with a real purpose, which says something important, only canned laugh tracks for dumb, shit âcomedyâ.
The likes of Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart and Saturday Night Live are perceived to be the cutting edge of satire. They have as much bite as something very toothless and very dead. Theyâre fucking shit. Mainstream American culture, the TV programmes people watch, the content they consume on the INTERNET, theyâre shit. Music is dead as a cultural force. Popular political music with a real message no longer exists. In the future all politicians will be celebrities and things will be even more shit than they are now.
A society so self-centred and frivolous and fundamentally unserious is how fascism has fertile ground. But this is not an accident. This is deliberate. It has been a never ending project of right wing elites to disinform and diseducate. To destroy education. To destroy the very concept of reality. To lie. What Donald Trump is an extension of the Rupert Murdoch project which has metastasized into Salem. Reopurt Murdoch himself was a worthy successor to Adolf Hitler. The current incarnation of this in America began with civil rights for blacks when the Republicans became the party of white racists because it was the Democrats who had brought in civil rights. Itâs all a rich tapestry.

It isnât untrue. The UK as a society. ie. ordinary people, is a far more hostile society to Israeli genocide than the US is. Most people have the opinion the likes of Corbyn have about Israelâs genocide. But look what happened to Corbyn. He was destroyed, all but painted as a guard at Auschwitz while that dangerous charlatan Boris Johnson got the most benevolent treatment possible.
The US as a society is utterly in hock to Israel. The entirety of the corporate media and politics is in hock to it. The American right wing are rapture fetishists who want the extermination of the Palestinians and many would like to see all Muslims in general cease to exist - which is a politically correct way of saying exterminated.
Harris would have been totally destroyed had she stood up to Israel.
As somebody who would like to see the genocide end and the Israeli regime be punished appropriately, and Israel made to face up to its 80 year long destruction of the Palestinian people, but who also wants to see American fascism and fascism everywhere routed, itâs quite frustrating. Itâs quite the dilemma.

America worships dumb entertainment. So does the entirety of the western world. Colbert and Stewart are what is laughably offered as âchallengingâ. They are dumb entertainment, without a purpose.
Trump is rapacious fascism packaged as dumb entertainment. The second canât exist without the first.

I think thereâs a lot of baseless assumptions there. Itâs the kind of reasoning that the Democrats bought and employed. I doubt anything would have caused Labour to lose. The Democrats fully supported and enabled Israelâs actions and look where it got them, wiped out. Speculating theyâd have lost by more had they done different is just nonsense really.
Colbert is a late night host now for nearly 10 years that does a few jokes before interviewing celebrities.
His actual character when on Comedy Central was excellent satire.
I think trump will now do whatever trump wants. He wonât bother his bollox running again he wonât listen to lobbyists or his base or do evangelical Christians etc. Heâs literally like a dictator now and will do whatever he thinks is right. Id say he wonât give a shite about abortion and heâll abolish tax on billionaires for an example.
The only hope is heâs senile enough to retreat to a sofa and scoff aerosol cheese.
This is why Project 2025 exists, for that to be able to happen and for fascism to still proceed. There are some very good documentaries on this theme - American ones - with a miniscule audience - which expand on the sheer lunacy and rapaciousness of the evangelical right wing and their business backers.
But such programmes, and such messages, are pissing in the wind. America is lost to this insanity for good now and that means the world is basically fucked.
