Surely this week was the perfect trial run for ramping up the rollout, with the extra AZ stock to be given out.
Yeah if they’re only doing loose change at weekends, then they need to be doing 20k on weekdays if the current “available” weekly supply is a bit north of 100k.
Previous weeks would suggest something like
Wednesday 21000
Thursday 20000
Friday 16000
Saturday 8000
Sunday 3000
So circa 96-100k
With another 100k just sitting there because they aren’t capable

I read last night that the HSE have 10k vaccinators signed up and are hiring more.
I’d say that a complete cod of a number. Sure 10k vaccinators would only need to do 25 each and we’d have 250k done in a day. They must be including a load of people who’ll never give a vaccine in that

Dr Jack was musing on that on the tonight show last night. It’s people who already have day jobs like GPs etc and may not be able to down tools when the ramp up happens. Thomas Byrne sat there silent like a wet fish.
Also when they were going to the nursing homes did it not require 3 people to each jab.
The person who stuck the needle in the arm, the person who verified the dosage and the person who monitored them afterwards.
Sure a 1000 people working 5 days would get us to 250k a week handy enough you’d think, 250 a piece, you’d surely manage 50 vaccines in a day. Less than 7 an hour for 8 hours.
I’d say 10k is a completely myth of a number.
Still though, 2.5k GPs in the country, get them working on a Saturday, plus pharmacists etc. The numbers are very manageable, it’s the overall logistics I fear for.
However I do think the mass vaccination centres will make everything a lot easier.
The Italians were digging in their garden and hit 30 million AZ vaccines buried in the soil It’s a miracle.
In fairness they probably have about 40 teachers given the pupil numbers. I’m sure not all of them got it so there may have been a degree of if you’re available, come and get it on short notice.
Still looks terrible and shouldn’t have happened like that. I don’t understand why a CEO could not see how open this would leave him. You have probably triple digits numbers of people who will know once you give out 20 vaccines to people. Someone will talk and it looks like you play favourites.

So the 29m AZ “discovered” in Italy is independent to the 30m from the Dutch plant?
Isn’t the stuff manufactured in Holland but actually bottled/packaged in Italy?
The big issue is surely people turning up on time no?
There seems to be uncertainty. I read that some of it could have come from India first for filling.
It just shows you how interconnected all of these supply chains were. Both the EU and AZ were asleep at the wheel with this contract. It was always going to lead to this shitshow if someone didn’t deliver.
AZ seem to be some poundshop operation when you compare and contrast them with the efficiency of Pfizer.
How do 29m doses go missing and nobody even knows they were missing?
Belgium received 27,904 AZ vaccines yesterday so I’d imagine that is another 12k or so that Ireland received to their pot this week.
They’ve acted sketchy because they both want to (for strategic reasons) and feel the need to fulfill UK needs. When you look at the contract the EC have, it is scant on details of the overall supply chain but the EU must feel they have some recounts if AZ have told lies to them. Which i assume they have.
What I don’t get it as how the EU were supposed to be getting their doses for less than $3 a dose whilst India were paying $3 and other developing countries paying more. I think there’s a good bit more to that Indian contract than was disclosed.
