They sang âRed is the Roseâ as per tradition in the middle of the field at full time.
They are probably on about their 15th rendition of âBonfire Heartâ in Jack Meades pub now.

Paul Flynn is the latest victim of Brian Carroll. Not a bad chat. More misery porn for the Waterford boys.
Better than Davy Clarkeâs at least, it was like pulling teeth
Davey got tired of all the 1994 chat pretty quickly
I wonder what he expected to be asked about
Marking the boys every night in training in 2014 and 2015 when he was a selector with TJ Ryan
It was like the twenty questions all over again.
@Fagan_ODowd Padraig Mahony was on with Wooly this week and basically said the Ballygunnar lads donât mind packing it in with Waterford because they have a more professional setup than with Waterford and a better chance of winning something. Not exactly those words tbf, but between the lines
What do you want me to do about it?
I just thought you might find it interesting mate.
Call them a shower of cunts?
Good luck to them. We are never going to win an All Ireland with Paidi Mahony in the team anyway. SOKI is the big loss but weâll just have to plough on without him.
Clarkey relaxed a bit by the end of the call. He was calling him âBrianeyâ for a finish.
I didnât hear the interview but that would not shock me.
Spoke to a few of them over the years and they always feel the set up in Ballygunner is brilliant for them. Sure they have more accessibility to doctors and surgeons than Waterford do.
15 people named on the back room team last Sunday. Thatâs like a county set up in itself.
With regards winning things? Ballygunner players feel that they will get their competitive buzz from the club as they are always involved in county finals and Munster club games so itâs easier to step away from Waterford than say a lad from any of the other club teams who get knocked out at 1/4 final stage and know in reality they wonât challenge to win things.
Its often said that âall clubs put in the same commitmentâ, but that is not the case. The work Ballygunner put in is definitely on par with most county teams. I used to be friendly enough with one of their panelists who has never been a nailed on starter on and the commitment he puts in is crazy. Leaving work at mid afternoon to go back for training etc. Absolutely nothing gets in the way of Ballygunner once the club season clicks into gear.
Presume Ballygunnerâs second team are intermediate? With the way itâs going youâd think their second team will be good enough for senior soon enough which could cause issues. Think the same will happen in Tipp soon with Thurles Sars second team getting promoted to Senior A in the next few years

Yes Intermediate.

Portlaoise players were saying this not so long ago too. Itâs not uncommon
Waterford Game Of My Life with TomĂĄs McCarthy is published by Hero Books and is now available from all good bookstores (The Book Centre, Bookstation and Eason in Waterford) and online. 30 of WaterfordââŚ
Ballyhale have won 10 of the last 16 in Kilkenny, unlike Ballygunner, despite that level of dominance within the county theyâve had a few fellows that have been a bit of use in the county team too. Theyâve also won 5 club All Irelandâs.
Ballygunner contribute fuck all to Waterford. Paul Flynn was probably the last real serious outfield player. For such a âprofessional outfitâ a return of one Munster title over the last decade and a half is just lamentable.
