A week is hardly ideal for whoever wins Limerick. Limerick championship seems very drawn out.
The last three times Ballygunner have had a long lay off, theyâve been lucky enough to meet a Tony Kelly-less Ballyea, Kilruane a week after winning a County Final Replay and a Sarsfields team from Cork who just werenât very good. It was a grand way to ease themselves back into it.
Playing the Limerick champions away first up should on paper at least, be a much stiffer opening test.
Thatâs a nasty comment. Who are the few Abbeyside players that âlooked overweightâ?
Fully accept we were 2nd best today, Ballygunner are an exceptional team and will probably win Munster pulling up again this year.
Itâs a learning curve for our lads. Occasion got to a few of the younger fellas maybe. Without doubt weâre the 2nd best team in the county, get a full deck in place next year and weâll go again.
Ballygunner leading 2-5 to 0-9 at half time. Mount Sion started well and very economical but Ballygunner well on top now and should be a lot further ahead but for a succession of bad wides.
The match was on in Carriganore on the SETU pitches. I have heard it said for a while now that the County Board owe them a tidy sum for use of the facilities.
I have just been told that the flood lights on the bottom pitch were working but due to the size of the crowd in attendance they couldnât move them to that pitch.
