Waterford Hurling (now incorporating intermediate football) 2013 and subsequent years

A week is hardly ideal for whoever wins Limerick. Limerick championship seems very drawn out.

The last three times Ballygunner have had a long lay off, they’ve been lucky enough to meet a Tony Kelly-less Ballyea, Kilruane a week after winning a County Final Replay and a Sarsfields team from Cork who just weren’t very good. It was a grand way to ease themselves back into it.

Playing the Limerick champions away first up should on paper at least, be a much stiffer opening test.

That’s a nasty comment. Who are the few Abbeyside players that “looked overweight”?
Fully accept we were 2nd best today, Ballygunner are an exceptional team and will probably win Munster pulling up again this year.
It’s a learning curve for our lads. Occasion got to a few of the younger fellas maybe. Without doubt we’re the 2nd best team in the county, get a full deck in place next year and we’ll go again.

Some serious heavyweights in those backroom teams.

There are. And Mount Sion are down one of their backroom team since the group stage meeting too.

I’m going to tip out for a look. Should be a cracker. Very much doubt there will be any messing tonight. Everyone will be on their best behaviour.

No sub goalie. You can see what way this is gonna go.

I’d be backing Mount Sion there, not sure about on the pitch.

Ballygunner leading 2-5 to 0-9 at half time. Mount Sion started well and very economical but Ballygunner well on top now and should be a lot further ahead but for a succession of bad wides.

Was there working floodlights on the bottom pitch?

Cover up. County board are skint. Lecky bill not paid, pass it on.

The match was on in Carriganore on the SETU pitches. I have heard it said for a while now that the County Board owe them a tidy sum for use of the facilities.

I have just been told that the flood lights on the bottom pitch were working but due to the size of the crowd in attendance they couldn’t move them to that pitch.
