Depends how close you are to the action but if you’re willing to travel abroad you must be close?

Wear the suit. Like a man. Not a man child…

Bring spare clothes if you want… The church and reception should be cool.

Can you flesh that last bit out? I’m interested as I’ve not heard that link before.

There have been studies that show that older parents are more likely to have autistic children, obviously there have been studies stating the opposite also :man_shrugging:

I don’t buy it myself but it may be a small factor

When I was a young lad the only person in my neighbourhood with diagnosed autism happened to be the most famous autistic child in the country (Jamie Sinnott), nowadays you’d have some on every street, obviously a lot to do with more regular diagnosis also but definitely a massive rise in prevalence

Serious money to made on the back of knowing the age profile of the population. It’s almost like the government could plan around it too.

Anyway, the number of babies born per year here has dropped from nearly 76,000 in 2008 to 57,000 in 2022.

The number of births is interesting. 64,000 in 1984 and goes down to 48,000 in 1994 before climbing again to 2008 number.

The rise and fall seems to be linked to the success of non traditional hurling counties in the All Ireland series.

Offaly, Clare, Galway and Wexford broke through in the 80s and 90 while Limerick are on top now and we aren’t having as many babies.

I’d say myself that the spectrum is very, very wide and many people are on it but are functioning away without a diagnosis but people getting diagnosed for everything is on the rise.

I always find studies that link autism to x, y or z to be very dubious. My opinion is whoever is coming up with these is grifting someone to justify their jobs. Autism is a very wide condition with so many traits that may or may not indicate it

More and more evidence linking autism to gut biome also… So bad gut biome in mama a link. But you’re right on the age thing but not in the way you think. Because many women are having kids later doctors are performing more Caesarean sections. Your gut biome journey begins as you pass through the birth canal so when you’re cut out :person_shrugging:t2:… Obesity is another reason for caesarean

There’s no one single factor but autism, adhd and the likes are all on the rise at a time we are having kids later and our diet is full of sugar and shite

I’m not talking about high functioning autism really, there’s a huge rise in the type of autism which presents enormous difficulties for families, similar (if you can ever generalize with autism) to Jamie Sinnott and the things that his mother had to fight for
