They turned up late for training in the middle of last week and were dropped. A few posts about it on the previous page.
Ah right, not like the Indo to be off the ball or nuthinâŚ:rolleyes:
Just posted this on Clarehurlers:
Iâm very sorry to hear this. There were three Rackard brothers who played hurling, Nicky, Bobby and Billy, but four brothers. John Rackard didnât play to the same level. I knew John very well, he was a big racing man, and John actually passed away about 3 weeks ago, my Dad and some friends were actually with Billy at Johnâs funeral. John and his wife Nuala owned Rackards pub in Killane. Billy had suffered from Alzheimerâs for the last few years.
All gone now, but their legacy and legend lives on (and I include John in this, he was an absolute gentleman).

Was it not the pub in Caim they owned Fitzy? Unless they owned both of them.
Ah yes The Hollow was owned by the Rackards, there was also an auctioneering business owned by one of them.
Lads, There were five brothers in the Rackard family - Nicky,Bobby,Billy,Jimmy and John. Bobby owned the pub in Killane which was sold a few years ago. John had the pub in Caim, Johns son Robert (Shanes father)now runs the pub and auctioneering business in Caim.
Just reading on the supporters site there that Paul Roche has been dropped from the squad. Anyone have any more details on this?
Football team for the weekend vs MBBâs midland inbred coonts
Wexford Manager Jason Ryan has re-jigged his forwards for their NFL Division 2 bottom of the table clash with Laois.
Shane Roche returns for the first time in 2009 at wing forward. Adrian Flynn moves from corner forward to centre forward while Paddy Colfer also comes into to the full forward line. Those to lose out are Shane Cullen, Graeme Molloy and Thomas Howlin.
Wexford (NFL v Laois) - Anthony Masterson, Damian Carter, Philip Wallace, Brian Malone, Colm Morris, David Murphy, Aindreas Doyle, Brendan Doyle, David Fogarty, Shane Roche, Adrian Flynn, Diarmuid Kinsella, Ciarn Lyng, Paddy Colfer, Matty Forde
Hurling team for the weekend. Gizzy and Quigley donât start. M Jacob back in midfield. Would worry for him there.
Wexford have rung the changes for their NHL Division 2 game with Down on Sunday.
Andrew Shore and Paul Carley are retained after performing well against Westmeath last weekend. David âDocâ OâConnor is handed the full back slot with Richie Kehoe moving to the wing back. Eoin Quigley and Diarmuid âGizzyâ Lyng have to settle for a place on the bench.
Peter Atkinson is named at corner forward with Nicky Kirwan the one to lose out.
Wexford (NHL v Down) - Damien Fitzhenry, Brendan OâLeary, David OâConnor, Malachy Travers, Richie Kehoe, Stephen Nolan, Ciarn Kenny, Colm Farrell, Michael Jacob, Stephen Doyle, Andrew Shore, Paul Carley, Rory Jacob, Stephen Banville, Peter Atkinson
Hope to fook its temporary or a dummy team or something.
Tis ball winning forwards that we need, the return of Stamp and Rossy will help the backs, so what the hell is Stephen Nolan doing at centre back (I know he plays there for UCD) Get him under puck outs in the half forward line. (although I think Full forward is the spot of him)
Glad to see Shore get a few games, championship might be a bit to soon for him this year in the end.
If Down put more than 2-12 up us, then we need to dismantle the team and possibly stop playing hurling in Wexford forever.

Experimentation continues as hurlers chase final spot
By Ronan Fagan
WHILE THEIR own close-shave against Westmeath allied to Carlow shocking of Antrim has put the Wexford hurlers back in control of their own fate in the National League, manager Colm Bonnar says he wont be just rolling out the big guns in the next few games in order to get the job done.
Antrims slip up down in Carlow saw them topple from second to fourth spot in Division 2 on five points, with Wexford (+37) recovering from their third round loss to the Glens-men to regain secondplace from Laois (-2) on points-difference, with Offaly top on a maximum eight-points.
Thus, with Wexford following next Sundays clash away to Down with home games against Offaly and Carlow, the Slaneysiders are in a strong position to seal a Division 2 final clash with Offaly and only one team will be promoted.
Although victory over Down could ultimately be crucial in that regard, Bonnar insists that Wexford cannot afford to neglect some emerging talent by instead packing their lines with more experienced figures. Looking back to last Sundays game, he points out that: Andrew Shore came in to the team unexpectedly when Toms Waters injured himself in training.
It was a big opportunity for Shore, especially considering hes only just coming out of minor. But he did exceptionally well, and that is the response were looking for from the players if someone is on the sideline for two or three games and then gets the opportunity, they must be positive and have a genuine cut at it.
We are carrying 30 players on the panel, and it is hugely important that we bring more of them into the games, because we cannot have a situation where weve only been focussing on 15 players and yet when it comes to a championship game against the likes of Offaly that well be found wanting.
This is all a huge learningcurve for all of us, and well ensure that were properly armed for the months ahead.
Well be fielding four of five more of the new players against Down, and then selecting a stronger team against Offaly, consisting of the players who have shown up best for us during the league.
But the game against Down is hugely important, he adds with regard to a side who followed their opening day home defeat to Antrim (1-18 to 0-16) with victory away to Westmeath (4-18 to 4-10), before falling back into the relegation trap with losses away to Laois (1-13 to 010) and home to Offaly (221 to 0-14).
We need to beat Down so as to help set up the crunch clash with Offaly (the group tie in Wexford Park on April 5th). But, when we see Carlow beating Antrim it shows just how competitive this group is, so well need to very sharp against Down.
The selectors tried some of Wexfords up-and-coming talent against Westmeath, and with Bonnar pointing out that we had to call on some of our bigger guns in the end to steady the ship, he wants to see much greater focus from now on. We were happy being up by seven points at half-time against Westmeath. But they really rattled us in the second half, and our composure left us for a while. That is definitely a cause for concern because when an opposition gets a run on you it can be very hard to turn the tide again.
Wexford and Down havent clashed in the small-ball game since the National League of 2007, when Wexford romped to a facile 3-31 to 0-6 home victory in Division 1A.
That was a campaign which saw the Slaneysiders eventually finish third, while Down were relegated on zero points.
The Ardsmen also endured a forgettable campaign in that years Christy Ring Cup (secondary All-Ireland championship) when managing only one win out of four qualifying games, beating Mayo, but losing to Westmeath, Kerry and Meath.
Under the charge of former Antrim boss Jim McKernan, they improved last year to make the Division 2 semi-finals in the League. In the group stages they beat Armagh, Meath and London, while losing to Derry and drawing with Carlow. They then bit the dust in the last four against Westmeath (2-24 to 2-15).

Itâs The Echo, not sure if any other paper would have the bould Ronan Fagan
Apparently the People are after him. Rumours that contract negotiations with Alan Ahearne have broken down.
Iâd imagine that Ronan Fagan will soon make the step up to one of the national dailies. I also reckon it must be annoying having a surname that people regularly misspell - take Alan Aherne for example.
Heard Eoin Quigley is out for the year after damaging his knee in training Thursday night. Another disaster
Yep, heâs done both his cruciate and medial ligaments and with that goes our chances of winning the All Ireland this year.
In more positive news, Good Counsel are through to the All Ireland Senior âAâ Colleges hurling final after beating Gort Community school today. 1-12 to 0-11 according to South East Radio.
Was hoping Gort would win thatâŚFuck it anyway
Thurles won the other semi beating Castlecomer by 11 or 12 pointsâŚthey have a serious team by all accounts and will be hard betâŚ
Ah FFS!
