Aidan OâBrienâs stepped back to take the minors this year as far as I know. Paul Carthy was one of the FS GAA coaches going around to schools for a good while, ala Joe Kearns and them for hurling, but Iâm not sure if heâs still doing it. He would have been involved as a physical trainer and coach for lots of sides but doesnât really have a strong managerial track record. I donât think there was much interest in the role and given itâs considered that we donât have much to work with that may have affected it too.
Wasnât Paul Carthy brought in as a Football equivalent of George OâConnor? Football Development Officer?
Seem to remember Ger Doyle announcing this exclusively on SE Radio Sunday Sports hour to Alan Corcoran on the day last year where the footballers beat Sligo with 14 men while the hurlers lost to Antrim. Ger felt the need to tell us he was very tired at the time as heâd driven to Antrim having attended the Rapps/Stars dinner dance the night before.

Bad news for Wexford GAA: Barry Lambert will play no part in this yearâs national hurling league.
With the big NHL throw-in now only days away, the Model County - who open their account with a straightforward trip to Kerry - were served a huge setback as news broke that Lambert has been ruled out of the entire league campaign.
The St Martinâs clubman must undergo surgery to rectify a shoulder injury that has been plaguing him for some time.
Manager Colm Bonnar has confirmed that the player will be out for three to four months and will play no part in the Slaneysidersâ bid to regain top-flight status.
Wexford team for Sunday:
Dermot Flynn,
Brendan OLeary, Richie Kehoe, Anthony OConnell,
Michael Jacob, David OConnor, Ciarn Kenny,
Colm Farrell, David Redmond,
Stephen Doyle, Eoin Quigley, Diarmuid Lyng,
Rory Jacob, Stephen Banville, Nicky Kirwan.
Pretty experienced line-up. Fitzhenry is off doing some charity yokey or something. Rossiter, Stamp and Lambert are all long term injures. Whatâs the story with Malachy Travers, Willie Doran and lads like that?
Fitzhenry is off skiing with Ian Dempsey and Paul Collins in SwitzerlandâŚ

Is the skiing thing for charity or what? Or is it just a piss up?

Half time score from Tralee:
Wexford 1-11 Kerry 0-5.
Rory Jacob got the goal. David Redmond was hooked after 20 minutes and wasnât a very happy camper coming off by all accounts.
The U21 football game against Kildare was postponed due to the poor weather conditions.
3-18 to 0-7
7 different scorers for wexford so far. brick scored all of kerry points.
3-21 to 1-10 I think the final score. Kerry goal in the last minute.
4-21 to 1-10. Kerry just beat the handicap.
good win which was need nice to hear a variety of scorers⌠any word on whether wexford had new jersies out today
Facile win. Doesnât do any good for the team except give them shooting practice. Itâs an obligation to fulfill NHL fixtures and go through the motions to get back to DIV1. But they would have had a more competitive game among themselves, playing 15 v 15.
They may yet come to rue uncompetitive games like this come the Championship, but at least their opponents then, Offaly, will be similarly disadvantaged by a year in Div 2.
Iâd say they were just glad to get to Kerry and back without getting snowed in somewhere godforsaken.

NHL: Model start for Bonnar
08 February 2009
Colm Bonnars first league match as Wexford manager saw the Model County record a 4-21 to 1-10 Division Two victory over Kerry in Tralee.
This was the only Division Two fixture to survive the weather on Sunday and it was a trip fraught with danger for the Slaneysiders, so theyll be delighted to be sitting at the top of the table tonight.
Shane Brick posed the main threat from the Kingdom in the days early throw-in and he finished the match with a total of seven points.
But Wexford, who controlled most of the play and led by 1-11 to 0-5 at the interval, has a whopping 20 points to spare in the end.
Rory Jacob (2), Nicky Kirwan and Eoin Quigley got the goals for the winners.
