A day of surprises, not sure of the scorelines but Gusserane lost to Taghmon by a point and are now out.
Catletown beat Horeswood so Taghmon and Horeswood meet in last game with winners joining Castletown in quarter-final.
Ballyhogue beat Starlights by a point and are now through. I heard Kilanerin were beaten by Sarsfields so if Sars beat Starlights in the last game they go through and Kilanerin go out.
Bannow also beat Clongeen, i think it was by 6 points.
Any reports of how Jim Bob played for Ballyhogue Monkey? Heard it was a high scoring 0-6 to 0-5 affair!
What a day for the mighty Sarsfields - should be through now only for conspiring to get beaten by the minnows from Ballyhogue. GAA anniversary years are invariably Sarsfields years - last county senior in 1984.
Powers also priced Ballyhogue at 2/1 to beat Starlights. Donât know who was on the inside there today but with prices like that he wonât be around much longer.
You replying to it doesnât help in this regard.
And Jason Ryan thinks no Sarsfield, conquerors of the county champions today, is among the best 30 footballers in Wexford. He is wrong.
Credit to Paul Murphy for his goal today after putting the sectarian nightmare he endured under Jim Magilton at Ipswich Town to the back of his mind.
Is that Paul Murphy from Kilmore? once the next big thing for Irish soccer but subsequently disappeared.
The lad was a mess. Seriously talented in a lot of sports but he was half wired. He was with Wallaces youths for a while recently but think heâs as injury prone as Darren Anderton. Doubt its the same Paul Murphy though.
You forgot to mention how its was actually 14 man Ballyhogue minnows (the 2nd most successful Senior team in the county) who beat the Sars in the 1st round. Who would have thought it. Kilanerin and the 2 townie teams desperate for a win going in to the last round while the Hogues are sitting pretty in the quarter finals already!!!
No, different Paul Murphy. The Kilmore version was an impressionable youngster at Manchester City when Richard Dunne was in the midst his binge drinking phase and took all the young Irish lads under his wing. He joined Wexford Youths last season having played briefly for Bray and someone else but broke his leg unfortunately a while ago.
Diarmuid OâKeeffe deserves a mention for his performance for the minors yesterday too. 4 points from play and a lineball too. Knocked over one of the points in extra time when heâd already suffered what appeared to be a hamstring strain that ultimately forced him off. I felt sorry for him at the end - he was hooked just before full time when we were 0-15 to 0-14 up and, after a bunch up around midfield, the ball squirted lose for some little Tipp cunt to knock over for the equaliser.
We were actually 0-15 to 0-13 up and one of lads soloed through and the Tipp 'keeper came out and smothered his effort when a point would have done. They tried really hard but itâs the decision making at key times that continues to let us down year after year. They really put everything into it though and deserve credit for their efforts - just frustrating that we couldnât see it through.
And the weekend got worse with news filtering through that Clonard have qualified for the junior football quarter finals after a win today. Filthpigs.
