Footballers play Limerick tongiht in Challenge game in Portlaoise
Revenge for '11!
I dont often see the local papers bandage. cant say I buy them, would only read them if at parents house. it means I regularly miss the musings of Brendan Furlong. I’ll leave it to others to decide whether thats a good or bad thing.
Leaving Cert sport.
That’s not til June
He was commentating online on the minor match at the weekend. I imagine he’ll be back when his Leaving Cert is done.
Wexford Senior Hurlers will take on Tipperary in a challange match this Sunday the 18th May in The Lower Pitch in Oulart at 6pm
Minor footballers play those Laois cunts in a Leinster Q Final on Saturday at 2.
Dunno dude. The new job has left me with little time for following the St Anne’s stalwart’s train of thought.

Boom goes the dynamite
The outstanding Eoin Moore will miss Wexford’s championship opener on Sunday week against Laois or Antrim. He sustained an ankle ligament injury in Oulart’s shock championship defeat to St Martin’s last Friday and may have to revert to wearing track suit bottoms like against Mount Leinster Rangers last winter. No other injuries to report after two rounds of club hurling championship - Garrett Sinnott is back in full training after missing the entire league campaign.
Signing in.
I would like to wish Wexford a very successful year in this years Liam McCarthy cup. Hurling needs a strong Wexford.

And a strong Wexford they’ll get, pal.
It increasingly looks like we’ll start with 2 of last year’s minor team - Liam Ryan of the Rapps (Enniscorthy) corner back, especially with Moore out, and Conor McDonald of Naomh Éanna (Gorey) in the full forward line.
The full back line will almost certainly be Ryan; O’Hanlon; Rossiter. Chin played wing back against Tipperary with Shore at centre back. Last spot probably between David Redmond, Ciarán Kenny and Richie Kehoe.
Harder to predict the lineup from midfield up but it’s rare to see a Wexford squad with so many viable attacking options.
no sign of that animal ye had corner back last year?
I was fairly annoyed at him winding on a few Clare players at the time. But, in hindsight, it was the most efficient way to slow down a pack of dopers* with incredible stamina levels.
*according to Davy Fitzgerald.
Can someone cast any light on how Eoin Moore picks up so many injuries/is injured so often? He seems to be perenially returing from injury.
no.
some people are just like that.

Seems to be a Wexford problem. Rossitor as well.
Some thoughts/observations. Please join in, chaps.
- Antrim at a neutral venue is surely a less tricky prospect than Laois away.
- Kinda repeating myself but this is our best squad in years (not a grand claim in fairness) and we have strength in depth in most areas.
- We’ve been squad building in the league despite being hampered by a fair few injuries and, while there were some promising performances, we didn’t beat anyone ranked higher than us.
- But we need to push on now and win at least these first two championship games to guarantee an All Ireland quarter final for the first time in 6 or 7 years. That would involve defeating Dublin at home and I think we’re capable of it.
- Looking forward to getting an idea of the starting team via Brendan Furlong in tomorrow’s Wexford People. Eoin Moore is out and it’ll probably be too soon for Garrett Sinnott to start.
- Recent challenge game lineups suggest a few tweaks from the league. Chin appears to be earmarked to play wing rather than centre back for example. Podge Doran has featured regularly at centre forward too and one of the Ferns forwards may be vulnerable along with Tomkins.
- Last year’a minors Ryan and McDonald should start and Devitt will be an option off the bench.
- Two key things we need to improve on: discipline and freetaking.
- We can’t keep winding on heads and going down to 14 men or giving away a series of needless frees in general play through over-zealous tackling when we have opponents bottled up.
- We saw again yesterday in Cork-Waterford that the best teams have freetakers who pop over 85%+ of chances. We had various freetakers in the league - sometimes multiple takers in the same game - and we weren’t accurate enough. We need to have this sorted out.
Interesting stuff, @Bandage.
Bar Eoin Moore*, Liam Dunne reports a clean bill of health in today’s Wexford People.
Shore and Ciarán Kenny have fully overcome the injuries sustained earlier in the year.
Garrett Sinnott returned to full training last week and played in an internal squad game too.
McGovern and Tomkins have finished all college exams.
*Not including Waters who’s out for the season.
I was in Ballycastle for the league clash so I know everything about Antrim. I’m great.
