Looking forward to our entry into the Leinster hurling championship on Sunday. Always an exciting time when the championship heavyweights commence their campaigns.
I’m a little bit apprehensive about the game on Sunday. I did see positives during the league in terms of our style of play, but we have got to the stage where it is no longer about seeing improvement or just performing well, Dunne needs to start getting wins with this team. They are capable but as Bandage points out above, two key things that we need to have right on Sunday is our discipline and our free taking. It’s great being aggressive and physical but we need to be controlled and measured and not just pull wild and loose which we have a tendency to do.
I hope Ryan and McDonald do both start. Moore will be a serious loss, I rate him very highly. I would also be happy to see Chin at wing back rather than Centre Back.
With Sinnott, Devitt and others in reserve, it is a decent team. Solid enough defensively as a unit - hopefully. Half forward line that looks mobile and an inside forward line that carries a decent scoring threat.

Is Ian Byrne injured or did you intentionally leave him out?
Sorry Mac, no that was unintentional. He will be another who will no doubt be competing for a half forward line spot. He has actually probably looked like our best free taker actually! A poor oversight on my part.

Something like that alright, pal.
You have the 7 forwards you mention (plus Byrne who you added in) battling for 6 spots and then Sinnott will be pushing for a start too when we brush Antrim aside. I wouldn’t be averse to playing Byrne in midfield instead of Kehoe actually.
The backs look more settled and it does appear that Liam Ryan will get a start. Redmond and Kenny seem to be fighting for that last wing back slot but Redmond could be released into midfield either.
have seen someone in the supporters site say the team for Sunday is named as:
Fanning
Ryan O Hanlon Rossi
Chin Shore C.Kenny
O’Keefe H Kehoe
Morris Doran Guiney
Jacob McDonald McGovern
so no real surprises there, but at least there is starting to be some depth to the squad and options on the bench.

The above team has now been confirmed on the Wexford GAA site.
Along fairly expected lines alright. It seemed from recent challenge games that Doran was being primed for centre forward after missing most of the league and that one of the Ferns lads could miss out.
Ian Byrne is probably unlucky not to make it and I imagine it’ll be Guiney or Morris to take the frees then. There’s one or two players I’d prefer to see in there but then I’m not seeing them in these practice games and training.
Subs are Ben O’Connor, Bobby Kenny, David Redmond, Richie Kehoe, PJ Nolan, Ian Byrne, Jack O’Connor, Eoin Conroy, Willie Devereux, Shane Tomkins, Garrett Sinnott.
Matthew O’Hanlon to become the first St James’ man to captain a Wexford senior hurling team in championship the week before Graeme Molloy becomes the first St James’ man to captain a Wexford senior football team in championship.
As has been said above, no real surprises with the team. It will be interesting to see how Doran goes at centre forward. If i remember correctly Neil McManus has caused us considerable problems from centre back in previous encounters. I’m sure Redmond and Byrne will see game time from the bench, possibly Sinnott as well if fit. It’s got to the stage with other counties now where you immediately look to their bench to see who can make an impact or be a match winner off the bench and at least this year, we have some personnel who should be able to make a positive impact and change the flow of a game when introduced.
McManus hurled full forward against us in the league, didn’t look fit and was taken off relatively early (maybe half time). Think he’s still been playing in the forwards in the round robin games too. But, yeah, he was class against us from centre back in the qualifier game in Wexford Park last summer.
