Wexford GAA 2014

You’ve quoted the wrong post but yes that’s the place, right on the corner as you come into Rosslare Strand.

Stephen Hunt’s venture in Rosslare opened last Friday night. It’s called Tides and is apparently a gastro bar. Fine for the summer season but what about the rough locals he’ll need to rely on to keep it going outside holiday season. @Cesc4 and his pals won’t like this change from Brady’s. Hunt has thrown his lot in with Wexford and might be an option off the bench later in the year.

I was down in Tides on Sunday, twas packed. Fairly loose definition of a Gastro Pub though. Would @Cesc4 and his pals not be more at home in Redmonds?

Whereabouts is Redmond’s? I only know The Bay and then the hotel bars.

Anyone going to this U21 this evening?

HT: Wexford 0-6 Kilkenny 0-3. We really should be out of site here. Missed 2 or 3 goal chances - 2 when the pass to McDonald was on but first Clarke and then Moore went themselves. Clarke also missed 2 frees and a 65 before Guiney took over. I don’t get why you wouldn’t have your best freetaker on frees even if he misses some training through senior commitments. It was 0-5 to nil after 25 minutes. First quarter played in an absolute torrential downpour.

Guiney 0-2 (0-2F), Nolan, Doyle, Foley, McDonald 0-1 each.

Utterly dominant. Are they doing any underage coaching in Kilkenny these days at all, lads?

Full Time: Wexford 2-14 Kilkenny 0-10.

Evidently not. Dublin minors won 2-8 to 0-3 in Nowlan Park a few weeks back.

Kilkenny were utterly atrocious tonight. At one stage in the first half it was really beginning to look like Wexford would keep them scoreless.

Jesus fucking wept

Congrats Wexico

Poor @Bandage well clamped & he can edit all he wants but Art has him.

For the record:

Rhys Clarke rebounded with a super second half and scored 1-2 from play. He also played a lovely crossfield pass to the onrushing sub, Peter Sutton, to slam home the first goal. That move was initiated by a great Ryan tackle followed by a sweeping move downfield.

That made it 1-12 to 0-8 and Clarke snapped up a loose ball from a long Gary Moore lineball shortly after to rifle past Duggan for the insurance goal (2-12 to 0-9).

The closest they got in the second half was 0-9 to 0-7 but McDonald plucked a high ball out of the air and pointed and this was followed up by a Clarke point to pad the lead out again.

Andrew Kenny also got an inspirational score to make it 0-12 to 0-8 when powering up the right flank, shipping a couple of tackles and pointing from the sideline.

We were on top all over the field, in every sector pretty much from start to finish.

Foley and Ryan were excellent in the full backline. Kenny and O’Gorman dominated in the half back line but the latter got done for overcarrying a couple of times and needs to watch that.

Nolan and Devitt were completely on top in midfield and Devitt could contribute at senior level now in my opinion.

All the forwards made a positive impact at various stages. McDonald has a genuine touch of sheer class too.

O’Leary saved an injury time penalty after losing possession himself in the lead up to it being awarded.

Scorers: Clarke 1-2, Guiney 0-3 (0-2F), Sutton 1-0, McDonald, Moore 0-2 each, Doyle, Nolan, Foley, Devitt, Kenny 0-1 each.

When you come to the Strand from Wexford, turn right at the T junction (where Tides is now) and follow the road up the hill around to the right for about a kilometre. Its a real locals pub.

A celebratory chips and breadcrumb rissole in The Premier back in wonderful Wexford town.

Looks revolting

Well done Wexford. Hurling needs a strong Wexford.

Battered rissoles are far superior to their breaded counterparts.

It’s full of dubs during the summer, none of them have a clue re hurling

Which site should you be out of? Building or halting?

It’s hard to tell how strong we are because Kilkenny are putrid. Sure we beat them last year and lost our next game at this level to Antrim.
