No-frills Liam Dunne urges Wexford boys to lose baggage
Kilkenny drubbing leaves manager looking for big improvement against Cork

Bit ridiculous that the team hasnât been named at this stage. Honestly hard to know what Dunne will come up with. Surely has to be a few changes from the last day.

Are we ripping up the script, mate? A load of changes?
This is team I heard but players havenât been told so itâs just speculation. Think it would be good to see Chin centre forward.
I still canât get over the decision to realign our defence for Kilkenny after Chin played centre back all year. Whatever about surprising them with our attacking game plan and positioning, it was dumb to unsettle the defence. Chin was a real positive in a league without many and had become a lynchpin. Now the possible team above has him being moved to centre forward when weâve just conceded 5-25. I know he can hurl there and has played there with the Harriers last season and this but I think heâs very much required at centre back.
If that team lines out its time to just write off the Dunne reign and start afresh.
A very strange selection if true.Hard to believe Fanning would keep his place and also the moving of Chin to centre forward .Hope the young lads do well, and that Wexford donât make a hunt of themselves.I was down in Cork during the week and anyone I spoke to expect Cork to win well. Up Wexford!
Team confirmed
Foley for Waters
Foley for Kenny (I think)
Nolan for Tompkins (I think)
Big gamble throwing Kevin Foley in at centre forward. Really doubt weâll line out like this but would be very interesting if we did. Apart from McDonald, weâve no big forward for under puck outs so god knows what fucking plan Dunne has. Our half forward line is seriously athletic but seriously small. Again, we wonât line out this Iâd be nearly sure.

Iâve learned the team announcement doesnât really mean anything Joe. Dunne is a crackpot.
50/50 game pal against Cork, they are in disarray and they wonât fancy wexford park.
I hope ye bate the bastards anyway, good omen their minors losing to us last night when they should have had us bate by 15 points.
Are we charging, lads?
I think that team, if it lines out as selected, has 12 of my preferred side and theyâre lined out in positions that suit them.
I wanted Breen in goal, Andrew Kenny in the full back line alongside Ryan and OâHanlon and someone else upfront for OâKeeffe.
I fully support the selection of Aidan Nolan in midfield and Foley x2.
Of course, the team bears a striking resemblance to the team posted before the official announcement by Wexford1996, except it had Chin at centre forward. This wouldnât surprise me but I wouldnât agree with it for reasons already stated.
If Chin isnât moved forward then weâll need to have an imaginative enough puck out strategy as OâKeeffe, Foley and Byrne are all small enough and far from aerially dominant. More fast, dynamic, creative types.
So to finish where I started: is it worth a charge? Hard to know when you donât know the way the team will be set out on the pitch but it looks a capable enough team.
I read Patrick Horganâs interview in The Irish Independent. Iâm not so confident now. Off to read the Liam Dunne piece in The Irish Times now.

I wish heâd stop talking about Jack Guineyâs attitude and commitment in the national press.
Iâd like McGovern to play in the half forward line. Weâll see if they do that.
OâHanlon wins toss and elects to play against the strong breeze. Sun will be in Fanningâs eyes in first half too. Breeze often dies down in Wexford Park too. We usually opt to play against the wind but surprised by that call given Kilkenny game and need to build confidence and get ahead early on.
Time to witness the Conor Mac and Kevin Foley show.
CMAAAAANNNN
half empty stadium, jesus that wexford crowd donât deserve a hurling team after that
The decision to play against the breeze was brainless, but then again not surprising give the capacity for fcuk ups from the current set up.Dunne has to go after this!
Should JJ be given the job before the u21 game on Wednesday or is it right and proper to wait?
McDonald has regressed something awful. His touch was woeful tonight.
