AIJFSF Kerry 3-13 Wexford 2-9. Wexford gave them plenty of it for a long time. Mattie Forde came on as a sub and scored a point.
Heard the same.
Thomas/Tommy Dunne will make Wexford unstoppable next year. A savvy appointment by Liam Dunne.
Is this the mental lad who happens to be Liamās brother?
No, itās the Toomevara and Tipperary legend.
I believe he has his own coaching/sports business. Isnāt he currently involved with another I/C hurling team. He is also training Clarecastle
So Brendan Furlong in todayās Wexford People reveals that Dunne is closing in on securing the services of an unnamed Munster-based forwards coach heās been after.
Aside from that, Dunne is staying on. Not surprising - he has another year of his term left. He wasnāt going to be cast aside given the context of his appointment.
Ger Cushe remaining as selector. Damien Fitzhenry moving from selector to goalkeeping coach. Murty Dempsey leaving his selector role.
Two new selectors appointed - Tom Foley (Rathnure) and Aidan OāConnor (Buffers Alley).
Willie Cleary (Clonard) appointed as coach.
Gerry Fitzpatrick staying on as physical trainer.
No mention of a sports psychologist but we need one of those too.
I think getting Tommy Dunne on board is crucial here.
What went on here @Gman?
Fethard blast County Board
12 August 2015
The Wexford County Board have been heavily criticised for their decision to throw Fethard out of the under-21 hurling championship.
Fethard chairman George Foley blasted the county board for coming to the decision after they were due to play Glynn-Barntown in the quarterfinal, but only received notice of the game on the same morning the match was due to be played.
A postponement was sought by Fethard, but the CCCC opted to give Glynn-Barntown a walkover instead.
Speaking to the Wexford People, Foley said: āItās very disappointing and short-sighted of the GAA in Wexford not to grant the club a postponement given that they had such a heavy schedule over the coming week which also included inter-county.
He added: āThis all left us with a real dilemma. I spoke with the County Chairman. I told him what was going on in the county was hypocritical. I have been attending County Board meetings, I hear whatās going on, but thereās no interest in the clubs. The clubs are no longer relevant after all of this.ā
yeah there is a bit more in the printed version. Basically, the Wexford coiste na nog postponed a Fethard minor game, because one of the players was playing for the Wexford juniors against KErry the following day, and they āwanted him to be fresh for the Kerry gameā. So they then refixed the minor game for the day after the junior game, obviously being fresh for club isnt the same as being fresh for county. They also fixed another minor game for the Wednesday, with the seniors also playing on the Saturday after. And then the U21 game was to be on the Tuesday. So there were a few players who had 4 games in 6 days, and one player had 5 in 7 with the county team being the additional game, so they sought to have the 21 game put to a later date as that was the one which had no time constraints to it. For some reason, the co board took that as giving a walkover.
I hear there is some considerable expertise in a neighboring parish in relation to making objections to the County Board and indeed Leinster Council.
we couldnt afford those kind of services, sure weāre only small fry. The likes of that crowd with their big wig law firms. Sure its not only vans and cars they paint, they can even afford to go out and paint trawlers and everything now.
The height of roasterism indeed.
All GAA work is pro-bono, the County Board would dread it if you need a nuclear option and iām sure the other parties would be happy to helpā¦
in fairness, I cant see that they have a leg to stand on here. Once Brendan gets involved it helps things too. Ask for a postponement, get thrown out. They have made a balls of it. Iām sure, actually Iām not sure, but it should come to a logical conclusion. But the services have been noted, Iāll inform the relevant people if necessary.
Did they genuinely only receive notice of it the day it was to be played? I donāt think the senior game should be an issue but dicking around with the minor games was poor.
Kilkeeny, who also had an All Ireland Semi Final in that competition allowed players to play challenge games with their club on the Friday night. Priorities.
no, they got notice they were being thrown out on the day it was to be played. That condensed report doesnt really read right.
Hereās your full blasting from the paper.
PS, @Rocko, I like the click and drag option for uploading photos. Nice touch.
I watched a recording of the Antrim game late last night. It was probably the worst 60 mins of hurling Iāve ever sat through. Twas like a training game. Our lads appeared nervous for the first 15 mins with memories of 2013 fresh in the mind but once they settled the game was over by the 20 minute mark.
Some of the shooting was abysmal and Iād hope thatās more rustiness than anything else. Was 6 weeks since Leinster final so hopefully the game yesterday shows them the work they still have to do. Winning like we did was the best outcome as there was nothing to be gained by hannding out a hammering like we did to KK.
It has to be a concern that weāve reached an All Ireland Final without a real test though.
Wouldnt worry about that chief. Yesterday for Wecford was about winning. Nothing else. If ye had won by a point twas enough. Any Limerick person assesing Wexford based on yesterday is living in cuckoo land
