Wexford GAA 2016

It feels like we havenā€™t been in Division 4 since the mid 90s when games were played in 4 quarters.

I remember watching us play Galway in Ross in c95. Three years later many of those lads won an all Ireland.

Graeme Molloy has confirmed his inter-county retirement. A very good player for us.

Awful to see lads taken before there timeā€¦

Fantastic player for Wexford, shame necessity forced him to play full back for the majority of his career.

B. Brogan never scored a point from play on him :clap:t2::clap:t2:

He got fuck all but thatā€™s definitely wrong.

Def got one in 2011 at the very start when Graeme pushed him away from a run on goal.

Depressing news. He never got the credit he deserved outside of the county.

Was that not the match he got taken off or was that the farcical drawn match of 2010 ?

It was the game with the own goal.

Ah right. Fuck it, wasnā€™t far off the mark.

Will never forget his shoulder against your man from Longford in the league final of 2012 when he absolutely poisoned him over by the Cusack Stand. Or his shoulder against your man from Down last year. Hardy bastard.

Brogan got 2 goals off Molloy in the 2010 game didnā€™t he? Definitely 1 that came back down off the post before BB buried it. What a ridiculous game that was.

Molloy was a great player and a great reader of the game. Made full back his own but could have played anywhere really.

Yeah it was a bizarre game. Brogan ended up with 2-4 and you still couldnā€™t really point at anything Molloy did wrong.

Only for Masterson making a fucking shambles of it in 2011 heā€™d have a Leinster winnerā€™s medal in his back pocket.

In a way the 2010 game was worse. Was it 9 or 10 points up at half time we were before we shat ourselves? Collie Byrne was brought on as a blood sub for 5 mins and in that 5 mins was responsible for Dublin scoring 1-3.

Iā€™d agree but for the fact that 2010 game was the Leinster quarter-final so we were still a bit away from from the glory of winning.

We had one hand on the cup in 2011 and bottled it.

Yeah poor aul collie, Colm Morris was subbed due to the aforementioned blood injury.

The extra time rule and allowing them to get all their men back killed us.

W ehad a lot of luck that day, Matty hitting pints from sideline, Red kicking 45s it was a joy.

We had ten good years of football (more or less) form 05 to 15.

Rumour has it Molloy has quit to spearhead the Jimmies defence of their title. Draw is on tomorrow night.

After 2010 I think they got it into their heads theyā€™d never beat Dublin as 2011 and to a lesser extent 2012 games had defeat snatched from jaws of victory. Jason Ryan didnā€™t help things either.

Jason was/is a superb coach, but not the best guy on the line t make a snap decision. We all know this.

Conor McDonald is OUT for the first two rounds of the league (Limerick - away, Clare - home) after breaking his thumb.

DaithĆ Waters is back in training ahead of schedule and might play some part for the footballers on Sunday. Aside from Ciaran Lyng who I mentioned the other night - Michael Furlong, Shane Roche and Joey Wadding are also unavailable through injury.

I think Iā€™ll go to the hurling in Dublin on Saturday evening and skip our football opener. Might head to the football in Antrim in round 2 on Super Bowl Sunday instead.

Wexford to win division 4, fill your bootsā€¦

St Jamesā€™ 9/1 to defend the title this year

St Annes Rathangan 3/1
Gusserane-O Rahillys 15/2
Glynn Barntown 14/1
St Martins 4/1
St James 9/1
Horeswood 16/1
Shelmaliers 13/2
Fethard 11/1
Starlights 16/1
Castletown 15/2
Sarsfields 12/1
St Abbans Adamstown 20/1

Is there any timeline on when Lyng is meant to return @Bandage?

Very short odds on the Annes, considering the age profile of a number of their starsā€¦
