Wexford GAA 2016

This is looking extremely ambitious

Is it as bad as the Thurles game in 2014?

Itā€™s shocking stuff so far. We are missing players but so are limerick. Typical Dunne bringing on an Oulart player. Where is Murphy playing? Hard to see from my stream.

We lined up with Liam Ryan as a spare defender, Harry Kehoe centre back, Nolan and Chin midfield and 5 forwards. Limerick have just worked harder, created space, worked overlaps, won loose ball and hurled us out of it. Not just a difference in class but in basic effort and commitment. Murphy came on wing back with Shore being sent up to centre forward.

I feared a massacre when it was 6-1 after 7 minutes. They were popping over points untouched from the get go. Triple substitution now. Conroy, Moore and Doran coming on.

Dunne Out!

Any chance of an early season heave against him? After 4 years at it, it was a crazy decision not to get rid of him after the shambles of 2015.

What a shamblesā€¦ Liam Dunne out and quick.

The players seemingly didnā€™t want Dunne back for another year but they have a responsibility to try a good bit harder than that. People from other traditional counties have sympathy for us now.

Sets us up nicely for a 2004 style ambush in Leinster

Dublin also hammered by 14pts tonight by tipp.

Bad night for the Leinster championship.

In other news, forum favourite Jason Ryan was managing the Taghmon U-21 football team who lost to Ballyhogue in todayā€™s Co. final

this group is not going to improve under Liam Dunne. No matter how much we want him to be a great coach and manager, he isnā€™t. We are watching teams like Dublin, Limerick, Galway, Waterford, Clare progress and beat us regularly. They have top coaches and managers. Guys with pedigree who have had serious success and who have taken good players and made them better. They donā€™t have better raw talent than us, but they develop it a hell of a lot better than we do. There are lots of things wrong with Wexford hurling, and Iā€™m sure none of us would say we have the dream system from underage upwards, but thatā€™s a different argument for another day. Liam Dunne has had a really good go with Wexford, had them a few years and despite a few decent games against Clare, we have not improved and have not played up to the level that our young talent deserves. And I know there will be those who say ā€œoh the manager has no impact, its the players on the fieldā€, and while there is some truth in that, if that in the case then it canā€™t hurt to replace this poor manager.

Disagree

That, in fairness is not true. He has made mistakes but being overly loyal to Oulart players is not one of them.

Shaun Murphy is well worth his place based on his performances for Oulart.

The team is too fucking small too. Like a crowd of minors from 10-15.

Your right that comment was made more in frustration about what I had seen in the 1st half and not really to do with Shaun Murphy. He deserves to be there he had a good year with Oulart.

Dublin donā€™t have a top manager or coach at the moment and we are certainly not progressing.

Wexford hurling selector Ger Cush has denied claims that Jack Guiney has been dropped from the panel for a second time.

The Rathnure forward was set to make his first appearance for the Slayneysiders since being axed last June in last nightā€™s 2-23 to 0-15 defeat to Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds, after having been named to start at full-forward by manager Liam Dunne on Thursday night.

Rumours mounted afterwards that the 22-year-oldā€™s withdrawal was down to another disciplinary issue, however Cush was quick to quash those when speaking to Newstalk Radio last night.

ā€œJackā€™s part of the plans, at the moment, anyway. Itā€™s just the hamstring problem and we will see how it goes in the next week,ā€ Cush stated.

Next up for Wexford is a must-win clash with promotion favourites Clare next Sunday and Cush says it is unclear yet whether or not Guiney, who was the Model menā€™s top scorer in the league last year with 2-26, will be available for selection.

"Weā€™ll have to look at that along with a few other guys that are missing. Weā€™ll see how we are on Monday night,ā€ he said.

Looks like weā€™re in a relegation battle with Laois and Offaly with the three Munster powerhouses fighting for top spot. Itā€™d be a smashing achievement to steal 4th spot and get a quarter final place.

Kerry are in the Leinster Hurling Championship and indeed are the standard bearers for the province in this division.
