Wexford GAA 2017 - Gorey Gorey, the Messiah is still here!

@Bandage - can you find that post where you described all the different clubs around the town. Your description of Glynn made me laugh at the time.

So they’re all ‘new money’ families then?

I wouldn’t cast Horeswood in the same light as Castletown.

Riddled with dodgey transfers and high profile illegal players over the years. And not a bother on them except for their chronic record in the SFC.

Their rivalry with Kilanerin in the 90s was gas. Castletown won nothing and the neighbours won 4. The funniest being the day Castletown walked off during the Peter Bushe’s speech.

Does Brosnan own Bodibro or just work for them? I always see their van around Gorey and just looked them up to find out they’re based in the business park there. Plausible enough he could be living up around Gorey / Castletown now.

He is living on the border near Carnew. I think he may be able to claim an address in the greater metropolis of Gorey, and through their favourable parish rules created for them in the 60’s or 70’s, by having a Gorey town address he is eligible to play for Castletown. He owns Bodibro. His father is very involved with the company too

I’m fairly certain Ben Brosnan owns Bodibro alright.

Can’t remember my post about the Wexford district clubs but these cunts are impinging more and more into Wexford town. Anywhere up around Wexford General Hospital is potentially Glynn-Barntown territory now and then St Martin’s is anywhere from Wexford Creamery HQ at Rocklands out.

Think there were 3 Sars lads on the panel, all in the subs.

I know little about that area other than the fact that the border line between counties around there has extended a good few miles in either direction a number times in the past few years to support an individuals argument

If someone lives in Gorey they can play for Castletown? Ah shtop Gman.

Carnew is about 4 parishes from Castletown and one from Gorey.

apparently so. The pitch is at Tara Hill, and Tara Hill is within the Gorey town parish I’m told. This happened in the 60’s or 70’s and that because they had part of their club within the town, it meant anyone in the town could play for them as they had a small population in just the Castletown parish.

Carnew might be a parish away from Gorey, but thats not to say the named address is a parish away.

Has a business address in Gorey town which he’s probably claiming as the justification. I think there’s some technicality that Castletown and Tara Hill are half parishes of each other. Tara Hill church is part of Gorey towns span of control so asusming Castletown gets linked to Gorey town from a GAA point of view as a result. Was probably perfectly logical in the 60’s but absolute madness now.

just found the parish map there. Castletowns pitch is in Gorey town parish. So thats why someone in gorey can play for Castletown. Great rule!

Pitch marked by the X there

Yep, the pitch is in Tara Hill village. Good old Parish rule. Going by that map you’d think the lads in Killinierin have missed a trick there given how they’re so close to Carnew.

If Killinierin and Tara Rocks amalgamate will they be able to get lads from the town to play as well?

Can you send on the full map if you have it?

Can’t imagine it matters where the pitch is?

Always thought their half parishes were Coolgreaney/Castletown (and parts of Roscommon depending on who was available).

Regards
Appendage

I’d imagine it depends on which pitch they use as their base. If they use the Rocks one then it could be possible in theory. Doubt the mountain men would be too happy to be coming that close to the town to play home games though.
