I’m not sure actually. I would have initially thought yes, but apparently it is being split in such a manner that Ballyfad are disbanding their hurling team and Tara rocks losing their football team. So if someone in the town transferred to the Rocks, would they only be able to join as the hurling team? I’m not quite sure how this new proposal will go and the availability of Gorey town to Kilanerin.

no, but as mentioned, this was something allowed to them years ago to help dwindling numbers or some such story. As they had their pitch in Gorey town, they were left use the Gorey town parish then as well.

I dont know pal. who knows what chairman was over the county then who could have pushed this on. I’ve no reason to disbelieve the account I was told, and the pitch location within the Gorey parish corroborates that part of it too.

Those Wexford Park finals against Good Counsel in 1995 were immense. Real life adults and 1200 students made for a savage atmosphere. And not the Senior Cup Rogby type of nonsense.
Counsel were steeped as usual to survive the first day. No complaints in the replay or 1996 though.

Did we play a big football match in Thomastown or Inistioge in that run? I recall being at a match down by the river somewhere in Kilkenny. It could have been in 1995 or 1996 either.
That 1992 team were beaten in the AISF by St Brendan’s of Killarney by 3-10 to 3-8. Seámus Moynihan was their star player and he made his Kerry inter-county debut later that year.

A question for the more knowledgeable posters on here, what’s the smallest club in the county? I have it in my head that it might be Clonee.
Smallest parish by area is St Fintan’s - does that make them the smallest club? Or would membership/population be a better criteria?

@Gman - were you aware of the financial difficulties that the Shelmaliers were in a couple of years ago? A loan the couldn’t even pay the interest on and now they’re off spending again on state of the art floodlights.
How did they manage it?
Have they anyone on the committee of the county board?
