seems to be the case as above @padjo. Ballyfad will lose their hurling team, and Rocks lose their football team. So that means any Kilanerin player who wants to hurl can join whoever he wants as he will have no hurling team to play for. And likewise Rock in the football. Therefore, if a Gorey player wanted to play for Kilanerin, he can freely transfer to the Rocks and then mean he would be eligible to play for Kilanerin. Apparently, Kilanerin, who pulled out their second football team last year, are expecting to field 3 teams with this new proposal. So I dont see the purpose in this at all.
Whatever about teams struggling at underage, they both clearly are not struggling at adult level and it’s more down to laziness than anything else. Every club goes trough phases in their second teams. out second team last year played one game with 12 fit players, 2 injured lads and someone who stepped in. That team then ended up in a county final with a panel of 26, and even at that a lot more could have been on it. Measuring a club on the basis of its second team is silly.
Add to that, the Rocks have the whole of Gorey to pull from.
