You’d want your head examined going on a training camp in Portugal with Davy Fitz.
How long are they going for? They’ll have sobered up by the 27th surely.
They’re only training 3 or 4 times per day over the week.
Lots of tactical work and walking through moves I’d say.
I hope none of the Wexicans have weak chests.
See my post from last night about Shaun Murphy.
Banty said last night that there are some brilliant young footballers in Wexford, referenced Peter’s winning the Leinster Senior Colleges “A” and then namechecked Rory O’Connor.
Davy leaned back and started laughing at the mention of O’Connor and then piped in to say he saw 3 or 4 players in the club championship last weekend who he planned on inviting into the squad. He said there’s 2 or 3 young players he’s really impressed with and reckons they could contribute in this year’s championship if they come on board.
The points O’Connor scored in that Martin’s-Oulart game on Friday night were top class. Aside from his skill, he’s also big and physical and well able to power through tackles. He looks like a tremendous prospect.
That was just Banty having the Bants. I’d say those Martin’s lads will be bursting to play football.
Forgot to say, chaps. Davy finished up Monday night’s event by saying we’ll win something big under him. I took that to mean a Liam MacCarthy or Walsh Cup.
Or a big overdraft?
En route to Parnell to watch Eamon Scallan’s Wexford St Aidan’s side, guys.
Any news from the ground as to why Sam Wall was dropped?
Losing 9-6 last I saw, how’s the game going?
10-6 to Dublin at half time. They’re much better than us and should be further ahead. No idea on why Wall was dropped - he’s togged out and looked set to come on just before half time. Banville got all Wexford’s points - 5 frees and 1 from play after 25 minutes. Dublin are much slicker, cohesive etc and have breeze to come now. They missed a fair few chances in the first half and had most of the play.
Not sounding good so.
Seemed an odd decision to drop Sam. Starts midfield all year and doesn’t play football despite being a starter last year. Finally plays a football game last week and then gets dropped. I just hope it’s not as cynical as that, there is already enough of shit going on.
What is going on at minor level in the county? It’s a disaster year on year.
Lost 0-20 to 1-14 in the end. Scored last 5 points to make it respectable but were second best. Think Banville possibly scored 0-13, all bar one or maybe two from play. Cullen from Gorey wearing 7 but playing full forward scored 1-1.
No chance Dublin will take KK?
Guys, I was chatting to some knowledgeable Wexford GAA men at the minor game there.
Shaun Murphy is unlikely to be fit for the Kilkenny game after we dispatch whatever round robin side we meet.
Damien Reck was going to miss that game anyway because of the Leaving Cert but damaged his ankle ligaments in training down in Clare the other night on the eve of our Portugal trip. The youngster was going to do a little bit of warm weather training and revision but I don’t think he travelled in the end.
Reck was possibly the best option to slip into the sweeper role if Murphy was unavailable but we’re probably without both now. Some thinking for Davy to do but he never uses injuries as an excuse and rightly so.
We are quite slick and skilful but a bit on the small side. Croke Park will suit us better than Parnell. If we can stop hitting 14 or 15 wides a game we could give them a real rattle.
