Wexford V Kilkenny Leinster S.H.C Semi Final, 7pm Saturday 10th June, Innovate Wexford Park

Like he did in 2012 when Galway hammered the shit out of them in the Leinster Final?

We were well beaten all over the pitch so it’s difficult to have any major complaints. And if you asked any sane minded Kilkenny person on the way out of the stadium yesterday they’d concede that it’s disappointing to lose but it is also about time that we began our decline. It’s also great to see Wexford on the rise and kudos to them for taking the opportunity presented to them. Lee Chin was a joy to watch. I said earlier in the year that success for us would be getting to an All Ireland semi final and after last night that looks like a bit of a reach.

It’s simple enough. You just can’t replace experienced once in a generation quality with lower quality inexperience and expect the same results. The comparison with Kerry in 1988 is apt. Richie Hogan, Paul Murphy and TJ Reid look a long way off their best. Colin Fennelly was excellent last night but he is boom or bust game to game. After that you can see clearly that our standard is a long way off our previous levels. My poster child for this is Lester Ryan. And I don’t mean to to criticise him specifically but he’s the best example I can give. He’s an excellent club hurler but he is a level below what you need to be a genuine contender. So any time he starts for Kilkenny we’re already up against it. It feels like we have 5 or 6 players like that at the moment. And they’ll either need to step up or move on.

As soon as you start consistently losing matches some things come into focus more than before. e.g. team selection, substitution choices etc… In Cody we trust. We’ll see how the rest of the season pans out.

In saying that, this whole year has a massive 2013 deja vu vibe. Kilkenny vs Tipp in qualifiers is now nailed on.
Congratulations in advance to Clare. It’s wide open out there.

Are you a little dim mate? That team had plenty of the golden generation left over - Shuffling, Hickey, Tyrrell, Hogan etc.

the all ireland hurling qualifiers are getting hard will limerick come throe

He made an absolute game winning stop after KK got their 3rd goal. Got off his line quickly to block with his helmet.
If KK got that goal a draw or shock win for them was pretty certain.

Yea and I suppose Richie Hogan is finished after last night.

Congratulations to Wexford hats off ye have a team that can win liam @Mac @grapes @Gman @Bandage

In the cold light of day and sobriety I have re-considered my attack on Mr. Cody last night. And I fully stand over it.

Kilkenny under Cody have re-engineered hurling and the refereeing fraternity have bowed meekly at their feet. The only one willing to stand up to them is Barry Kelly and we all know what they think of him.

Most other teams are at it now with the use of the spare arm being coached right through age groups.

On the flip side they’d the greatest bunch of hurlers of all time and they’d have won 10 All Irelands anyway but it needn’t have been as ugly or so God damn boring.

Let’s not write that off!

The scariest thing is that he was KK’s highest point scorer from play last night

they have given nothing to hurling over the last 20 years

Live report from my Wexford taxi driver this morning; some Of the Wexford panel tried to get into the residents bar in the Talbot at 3.30 this morning and after an altercation a staff member sustained minor injuries. The taxi driver wants to emphasise that it wasn’t a panel member who caused the injuries but that Davy Fitzgerald will “surely be fuming” and that the Leinster council might “get wind of it”
