They both piggyback off the Three network so coverage should be the same really.
Yeh, the dilemma of the same service for cheaper or taking the plunge with Gomo and being an Eir customer
I am on Gomo for 14 months. I have close contact on 4 other phones using it for at least a year.
It works. The only fiddly bit is setting up the SIM transfer yourself.
Not at gunpoint would I entertain Eir in any guise again, shit show of an excuse for a customer care service
A relative of mine wanted CCTV on their farm. No internet access nearby so I got a 4G router and a GOMO sim card so he can get emails when there is movement/can view the live feed. Working perfectly so far
I am dealing with eir on a business account issue and they are a shambles.
However the brilliance of Gomo is that they don’t pretend to give you any service other than a signal to the phone. We also have a batch of work phones on it and no issues.
Interesting. I have a lad badgering me to accept a referral on 48.ie so he gets a month free (€8). He’d be devastated if I went to Gomo.
Yeah I’ve heard go mo are OK, vf are going down the Eir route though slowly but surely, need decent competition to the whole monopoly of eir-VF
Think they’re basically the same?
The father in law wants something similar for calving season. The farm is about 100 yards away from the homestead so we cannot connect to the WiFi down there. Can you still get a dongle these days or would what you described be the best option?
The 4G router would be the best option id say as you could then run a ethernet cable from the router to the DVR so no connection issues.
Look at equicom.ie
They have a 10 mile WiFi extender for about 300 quid.
It needs clear line of site, which shouldn’t be any problem at 100 yards.
I put in a system for my ould lad a few years ago of 4hd cameras, I ptz camera, TV box, wifi extender and cables. I think it came to 1200 + vat. There’s an app for the TV box that allows you to view the cameras online on the phone.
Works perfect even after being powered down for 6 months.
48.ie working a treat here at €8 a month.
We got the auld lad a smartphone at Christmas and I set him up with them and his coverage in rural north Tipperary is spot on
The parents seem to be in a 3 network black hole. I’ve to hotspot off their vodaphone when I’m down and stop the ould land wandering off out of signal when I’m watching 7 hours of Redzone.
Is it hardwired for power? Looking for decent one without wiring.
Have you looked into homeplugs if the mains on the farm is on the same ESB supply? Should work with no monthly bills.
seems to be some issue for a lot of people with Androids and it crashing a hape of apps. Google play updated some webviewer app or something and its made a fuck of things. Pain in the hole.
Who are 48.ie piggybacking on?
Three
I’m on them since the summer. 8 euro a month. Job is
