Whats the best Irish radio station to listen to?

RTÉ with a brave choice to replace John Murray. They’ve gone for Ryan Tubridy. Murray’s show replaced the Tubridy Show in that 9am slot. I can’t quite remember but something tells me that may have also featured involvement from Tubridy.

In another wildly innovative move from RTÉ they’ve just gone an invented a show called Mooney Goes Wild which airs on Sunday mornings and features Derek Mooney talking about wildlife. It sounds like it might be a little like the Mooney Goes Wild show that used to be on a Saturday morning before it was scrapped a few years ago.

In fairness, Tubbers is born for that slot. He’s not up to more serious stuff and isn’t suited to 2fm. He was taken out of the slot originally to try and hold on to Gerry Ryan’s listenership and has done better than expected.

2fm is completely screwed now. Extending Breakfast with Bernard, etc. and brining Nicky Byrne to 10am is not going to have the listenership flocking to the station

Tubridy is the best light entertainment broadcaster in the country. By a country mile.

Can’t think of another one to be honest.

I am a very infrequent listener to morning radio but I have always enjoyed listening to tubs

Irish radio is mostly shite…that said;

Mrs Goode thinks the lesbian and Nicky Byrne are quite good on 2fm so if they are gaining an hour I’m saying it’s well deserved.

Nicky was buying his kids some treats in the Olde Sweet shop in Malahide last weekend, being a local he’s not a celeb so I didn’t post it. Seemed chilled and happy, Malahide does that to a person, just look at DB v Croppy lately!

Like any normal person Mrs Goode thinks the breakfast farce is total poo. There is nothing else to note on 2FM she tells me.

Me, I think the Monaghan bird that worked in the BBC ruins Morning Ireland. She is RTE’s answer to Heather Humphries.

Also, that new Business fella they got from Newstalk is a gimp. He use to get slagged about driving a Yaris. I know he’s only telling some business news but how can you take him serious driving that piece of shit. Did he do a bit of business and buy it off his granny??

Tubridy on 2FM or RTE is shite. That would be an hour to turn to Newstalk if they had anyone but Macs mate and Varadkar’s boyfriend on.

Sean O’Rourke wipes the floor with anyone politically but bar that it’s a bore of a show.

Aine Lawlor and especially Rachael English are RTE’s best presenters.

Pat Kenny’s move to Newstalk is like juninho at Middlesbrough, could have done something but surrounded with bozos.

I do like Moncrieff on a Friday. Movies and Booze… If your not drinking by 5pm your either still in work or @Fagan_ODowd

Off the ball is like having a pint with @thedancingbaby , he drives you mental with the amount of sports knowledge he has but ya can’t help thinking he has just googled the shit during the day and is repeating it like Jimmy Magee…They might have…he hasn’t, at least with the @thedancingbaby you get Sean South and The Boys of the Old Brigade with a yellow card at the end of the night and not “maradona” by Andrés fuck face.

Dave Fanning is running the 9am slot on Radio 1 until Tubbers finishes his holidays. Wow.

Ireland’s oldest teenager had a fascinating interview with his sister in law this morning. Wow.

That Oliver Callan is on Radio 1 right now. He is one unfunny cunt.

Where did Ireland greatest sportscaster, Michael McMullen, disappear too. He’s accent took getting used to but his enthusiasm for the job was unmatched.

Its funny, like he fell off the face of the earth. His twitter hasnt been updated in years, his wiki just ended, and nothing to be found elsewhere. Strange.

He’s been doing the goals round up reports on TV3’s champions league coverage this season.

He changed his name to Moykel Muckmullen. Did you search that ?

Driving down the M9 this morning. Don’t really care for Lyric early on Sunday. The devotional music show doesn’t do it for me. Some lad on South East Radio was playing songs he had learned in Sunday School, that didn’t work for me either.

Round about Thomastown, I picked up Tipp FM. They had a super classical show on called Just Class. Lovely, full of requests from ladies just in from Mass. Lost that at the new bridge in Waterford and tuned in Timmy on Sunday on WLR. The first tune Timmy played was the Northern Soul classic, the original Tainted Love by Gloria Jones. It was all a lovely distraction from the idiotic ramblings about Paris on Newstalk and RTE.

As an aside who is this “security expert” Declan Power RTE wheel out at the first whiff of a terrorist incident., does any one know?

That would have been Cecil Riddle.

Ah lovely.

Matt Coopers desert island discs here. Even as a former drummer in the Rush tribute band, Lusk, I find the inclusion of the Spirit of Radio puzzling.

Keith Richards was on the real Desert Island Discs recently. Must post them up.
