That’s sound of them.
What an incredibly dramatic 24 hours.
This time last night: crèches will remain open for essential workers. List of essential services published on gov.ie. Not a bother.
This morning: gov.ie page blank only to say it’s currently being updated. Crèche saying they’ve received guidance that essential services are as before but government are including a clause to disqualify anyone that’s working remotely. You’re only essential if you have to leave the house. Never mind that they’ve been encouraging employers to allow employees to work from home and, sure lookit, the 7-month old will mind himself when you’re on that 2-hour conference call.
Late afternoon: gov.ie page is updated and includes the disqualification clause that basically makes everyone inessential except for healthcare workers.
Tonight: out of the blue a new publication is released on gov.ie that changes everything and makes us all essential again. See 9 and 10.
I can’t handle the trauma.
That post and coordinating those links etc is the most work youv done in years. This crisis has energised you
If I could bottle this energy and put it towards looking after my children then crèches, crèche workers and Ireland would be safer and better for all.
Very very few ‘vulnerable’ children are in creche or childcare. Most are in ECCE alright.
Thank God the mother of my child works on the front line. Those applauds back in April were not for nought (0)
Are crèches allowed charge for a service they cannot legally provide
semi conductor manufacturing was forcibly put in there i see
up the ra
is she fighting ISIS or something?
The government is giving them no recompense so they have to keep charging (Is what the creche told us anyway). Fortunately my wife is absolutely essential, and even though I’m completely dispensable we average out at essential between the two of us so we can use the creche a few days a week
A peacekeeper on the road between Nicosia and Girne
Sorry to read your troubles lads… Must be tough relying on creches. The Mrs is obviously closed now but flexible generally so works mainly by evening which allows us avoid child care…
Happily dropped off the little lad this morning to the creche for his usual Thurs/Fri. When I picked him up I was told he had a great time as there was only a couple of them in there
We were set for bringing our two back in next week again until a text message this evening that they’d had a case & closed now for 2 weeks
Mind melt
We’re still all at home. Not much sign of symptoms yet apart from an ever worsening case of cabin fever.
Got an email from the creche saying they had a number of positives and they were shutting down for the moment so at least I’m not getting charged for it!
Has it been decided who is deemed to be essential workers? My Mrs’ maternity leave is up soon and we have a creche spot booked since last year. We rang the creche and they seem happy to take her still even though nether of us are front line healthcare workers.
There’s a list on gov.ie, pal. There’s also a FAQ document.
If you’re classified as LIDTF on TFK you can put them in apparently
