Irish teachers spend a bit more time in the class than others but other teachers are required to do a lot more administration and plans for individual students…Irish teachers don’t have to to do half of tha. I’m sure I read not so long ago that Irish teachers are the highest paid in Europe…
What a horrible nasty post, pal.
Yes my sister taught in England for 2 years and has been teaching in Ireland again for 3 years. The difference is work load required is unbelievable. Irish teachers are largely left to their own devices for classroom preparation. English ones are under the thumb all the time and are expected to follow a detailed curriculum - not sure I agree with it but English ones are in for far longer hours and don’t get near the time off.
No it wasn’t mate
Teaching was always known as a handy number, it still is a handy number albeit the pay isn’t as hectic as it was in previous generations.
I know of a fella from Clare actually who’s principal of a primary school at 28 years of age in Limerick, plays senior club hurling across the river as well. Crazy to be top of your profession at that age, far fucks to him though, by all accounts his excellent.
Old school irosh teachers like we had were that way. Most of the teachers i know are always planning and have spoke about having to show their principal their plans.
Our system can really only be compared to UK & Oz as thats basically the same systems.
Don’t be bringing facts into this, KeV doesn’t deal with fact.
“He’s”
Its not a handy number by a long shot.
I deal with kids for about 3 hours a week, primary age, and its draining. The teacher who has them all day has it hard. All that talking, teachinh, explaining.
Its very tiring.
Your talking shite…I know and am in regular contact with loads of teachers in Ireland, UK and MidEast…teachers get away with murder in Ireland.
Go out and get the ride will you ape.
That was last night mate.
I was being facetious pal, I wouldn’t be a teacher myself for any money it’s not an easy job, the holidays are excellent though. What I was referring to earlier was how getting to the top of your profession at such a young age is very unusual.
You should be more relaxed then pal. Go out again tonight and double you’re efforts.
You’ll hit a wall eventually, might as well make the most of it.
It’s increasingly happening. It used just be given to the most senior/oldest teacher. Now highly motivated and driven teachers are backing themselves to do the job and they are genuinely the best person for it and getting the position. I know of a few principals in their early 30s around limerick.
“Your”
I wasn’t aware of that, it actually makes sense if they are the most ambitious and driven fairplay to them and is the board of management of whoever appoints them. The lad I referenced above is supposed to be excellent, really very good. Can’t knock that at all.
Is this what the end of the GAA season brings? Lots of shite talk and misinformed opinions?
a gomi
It’s a good move. A younger principal is much more likely to be progressive and make changes where necessary than a teacher that is set in their ways and has worked in the school for 20 years and developed strong relationships with the teachers in the school.
