A real immediate elegance to tonight’s Portuguese Pinot.

I’ve just received a case of claret. Nearly opened a bottle, but I’d not finish half of it and herself is out. Wil report tomorrow. I have some quite lovely rioja from the wine society I’ll post up tomorrow also. A good rioja is hard to beat. Far better value than most wines, though there’s more and more bang average crap out there these days.

Cat is out of the bag ,Lidl have upped the price of this by a few euros …a cheap Ribera del duero is gold dust in Ireland …

I’ve been off the hooch since Halloween but had a glass of this post Guinny. There was an immediate denseness to it that would go well with prime rib.

I’m on this now. An Italian merlot.

A real immediacy to it if I’m honest

The wine was so excited it sprayed around like champagne

Don’t be facetious

Can you not call it Bordeaux like a normal person?

You never use six letters when 8 will do.

Claret is a uniquely aristocratic English term.

Nice bit of gargle here

That’s what all his Tory mates call it.

Mrs Croppy got two bottles of Spanish wine from work as a gift for completing a deal.

We priced the Rioja online at €40+. It’ll be class on Christmas Night.

You’d only read it in the Daily Mail these days

It’s probably what they call it in the “Wine Society”

The Wine Geese are flocking

In 2009 I bought 4 bottles of 1980 Dow’s Vintage Port in Jus De Vine in Portmarnock. They were half price from a receiver sale. They’ve been lying on their side in a dark press here ever since. Apparently they will be at their peak over the next decade. It’s extraordinary to think that Kerry played Roscommon in the All Ireland Final the week those grapes were harvested.

It appears to have raised the hackles of the deeply insecure lads.

Any recommendation for a decent red wine I can buy in Tesco?
