Yes.
Reckon they’re both average enough tbh. Not bad at all, but always slightly disappointing.
I’m about to open a bottle of claret.
Spanish red is the biz but I’m not a huge rioja fan.
Great stuff. We can expect a few abusive posts in a couple of hours.
Depends. Good rioja is lovely, but there’s barrel loads of shite about.
Any recommendations for reds for the Christmas? I’ve put myself in charge of buying the wine. I was thinking of spending in the region of 30s on chateau neuf (so?) du pape.
I like a good rioja and a malbec. I’ll look for some carmenere while I’m at it.
Cune and muga
Faustino 1 I’m a big fan of, but only Faustino 1
Generic Rioja is meh enough but Reserva and gran reserva from a good vintage is superb and some of the best value in premium wines.
Agreed
Two excellent wines and vintages there, the wine society on the ball.
I don’t know much about wine but the Dada seems like grand tack
Thanks, I use the forum for recommendations. Like everywhere else, they sell some poor stuff as well. You need to be careful, but the forum is a valuable resource, as are the members reviews. The society will sell something as the second coming of Petrus, which then gets roundly slated by the members. It’s not for profit, but they’ve mouths to feed . They sold out of the rioja. I tried to buy another case. It’s excellent.
I have some gran reserva for Christmas dinner.
The other thing I find with decent rioja like Faustino 1, is it’s worth googling the year, making sure it’s not an occasional bad one, and that it’s old enough to drink. Needs a few years.
Bodegas Muriel 2010 Viñas Viejas Gran Reserva is nice.
I have a favourite rioja actually. Don capellones. I do not recall what year.
