Do you know anything about this?
I was given it so I don’t know whether to put it away for a post Covid get together and use it for VCR’s. Vodka, Champagne and Red Bull.
Or if it’s okay I’d rather see out the Christmas and open it on Nollaig na mBan. Keep the ban an ti happy.

Fucking hell, snap, my lovely wife was gifted a bottle at Christmas. It’s a $40 bottle, so give it to the women, they will be mighty impressed. If you can find them serve it in classic champagne glasses.
At $40 for 3 litres it’ll be thrown in with the Vodka and Red Bull.
It’s $40 for a regular bottle here. What year is it?
Don’t know, its all in French.
I think so. How will I know the difference?
If it has no year on the label it means it’s non vintage, a blend of multiple vintages. Which isn’t a bad thing. It’s probably a lovely champagne, unless it’s been stored badly for years.
It’s in the garage to keep cold as it won’t fit in wine fridge. I’m fucked if I’m walking over in the freezing cold to check the year. I’ll look at it tomorrow.

Sunday Times wine club. I split a mixed case with a mate four times a year just to try something different.
Can order more often or less often if you want.

It gets 4.0 out of 5.0 on vivino - it’s not gospel but it should at least be decent. And probably quite nice.

Deutz is good. Don’t cook with it anyway.
It’s the *house" champagne in The Metropolitan which is a lovely place, and is about fifty quid a bottle there iirc.
A lovely wine (Syrah Grenache blend) from an Irish owned (Cillian Murphy father in law) vineyard in Provence.

I’ve been to that vineyard. And yes that’s a very nice wine. If I remember right they do a range of “angel” named wines - Seraphim & Cherubim.
The only place I know of in the North to get it is a place in Belfast called Direct Wines NI or maybe Wines Direct

This down a couple of euro at local off-license, so tonight’s choice accordingly.

I have had some of the 2009. It’s lovely.
Not sure what the 2010 is like though.

Would you call it a claret?
According to Robert Parker the 2010 is still tannic and too young to drink. But is rated higher than the 2009, 95 points versus 92. I’d take a chance and drink it.

No.
If it’s better than 2009 and not ready to drink, buy as much as you can lay your hands on and leave it lie for five years. It’ll be absolutely lovely.
