Work Motivation Techniques

Was reading back on this over lunch - why did Carter delete his bank vault story?

Farmer, the man who infamously bottled an audit sign off, advising that such deadlines are irrelevant. What a clown.

Third day back at work today and I’m really struggling to get in the mood. Normally at this time of year I’d be champing at the bit, asking the clients when they think the books will be closed and if there are any issues we should know about upfront. This week though, I’m on the internet, I’m playing Words with Friends, I’m messaging people, outright avoiding work.

Disappointed in myself. I think it’s down to the disruption the holidays had on my exercise routine but this is a worrying development all the same. It hasn’t helped that I’ve been allocated some very tedious tasks this week but I can’t use that as an excuse. I’m paid to work a certain number of hours a day and that’s what I should be doing.

Today is a write off but if this persists I’ll be very worried.

You might play Words with friends a bit quicker, Brian. I’m in the 51 on my own :frowning:

longest week ever

+1

I worked Monday. And I’m working tomorrow. #moneyneversleeps

Struggling big style here. No interest in doing anything. Keep putting simple things off until the last possible minute. Rarely make it in to work before 9.30am, taking long lunches. I need to get myself together, disappointed in myself.

You have to hit the bottom before you get back on track Tinnon.

Put aside 10k now as you’ll need it in a few months when your dropped off at some private 12 step clinic by a few concerned colleagues.

Have a read of ‘A million little pieces’ in preparation.

Enjoy the ride mate.

Seriously lacking in motivation today. Workload is fairly light at the minute and a good number of the department are on vacation but have a load of busy work to do for an upgrade taking place next month. Can’t bring myself to go drawing up test plans and scripts and all that other shitty admin work that goes with it.

Have the feeling that it is going to be a long week :frowning:

Today is a right off. Make a list of things you are going to do tomorrow.

I have just arrived in work. No sleep last night, incredibly tired. Think I’m gonna take Wednesday to Friday off and rest mentally and physically.

Zero motivation today. Have loads of shitty little noddy bits of work to do for clients and have no interest whatsoever

I’ve pretty much finished my work for the week and have Friday off. Little motivation to go back through it all tweaking bits and pieces, just waiting for Thursday night pints!:pint:

Thanks for that motivational gem, you cunt.

You got all the boxes onto the pallets already?
You got all the boxes onto the pallets already?
I cut out the middle man and slid the pallets in under the boxes. Hence four days work done in two.

I got through a mound of work this morning but have hit a wall since around 11:30. Have no interest in doing anything and the end of the day can’t come soon enough

I am losing motivation rapid…

Next Month I will take up my third role in the company I am in for the last 14 months ,sure… I am a contractor and I’ll go where I am told but I am fast becoming a John O’Shea type versatility object.

Contractor in the same role as me handed in his notice this morning. He is here close to two years and will be tough to backfill. Will mean I will have to take over some of his projects for the time being including a data clense for one of the clients for SPP which has 20 odd millions records and documents that need to be scrubbed down and archived off.

Fuck my life:oops:
