Work Motivation Techniques

Here’s a tip for work motivation, get a job/career you enjoy.

Harder than you think pal.

Ya it is easier to accept mundane, mind numbing “safe” jobs.

I know how hard it is, I continue to live it. It’s dog hard sometimes. I’m about to quit what once I would have thought a dream job because I’m not getting out of it what I should, but I’m all the better for it. I’ll get to where I want and I’ll enjoy getting there.

I’ve had so many people try to put down my ambitions and ideas as it was not a safe route it’s way way too easy to listen to people who really at the end of it, are just not happy themselves and put your passions and ideas down cos they can’t pursue their own.

Fair enough Kev… but when Mortgage and kids come along, passions take a back seat rather swiftly.

I completely accept that. That’s why maintaining an interest in your passions as a companion for work is absolutely vital for anyone’s mental health.

I started back thru distance learning, at a slow enough pace. As the interest, passion grew (or was re-born) I made progress, while still “paying the bills”.

However I never had kids, so even for 1-2 nights a week you need an understanding family.

I’ll managing a group of fellows in Mumbai as part of my new role.

So there is the job/industry I am in currently… 40 hours a week, well paid, I wouldn’t call it safe but its easy… no challenges and I am bored out of my block every day.

Now just this very day there is a job that has presented itself to me (well I know if I interview for it I’ll get it)… probably 50 hours a week, 3 hour commute daily(1.5 each way), 33% pay drop, going back down the pecking order… but I know I’ll like it and I know i’ll be happier in it.

Need to think about this… advice Kev?

Stay where you are and spend the extra time with your kids. It’ll be worth it in the long run.

Thats what I am thinking Mac.

Leaving at 7 and getting home at 7 wouldn’t be long taking the polish off it.

To quote mister burns, I think I’d be happier with the money

Stay where you are.

Stay where you are kp, fuck all that driving. Are you factoring fuel costs into the wage reduction also? Do the easier job, have a longer life. Grass is always greener so you might not like this new job as much.

Done all the figures.

I could actually live with the loss in wages but I can’t put a price on the 20 hours a week id be losing with the family.

Grass is always greener indeed.

Kev will be disappointed.

Take it from someone who’s doing those hours already, it’s not worth it if there’s better money on your door step. More time to do a few bits on the side that interest you as well as quality family time.

That was 35 minutes of sheer tension there.

glad you were part of it bro

What’s your problem bro?

Just do whatever Balbec says, since he took on that bet thing I feel he has towering authority. *

  • I don’t know if it was real or not as obviously I’m not a cool kid
