Tax. They don’t give a fuck about anything else. They’d become the new drugs lords

Theres a huge difference between casual drug taking among young people for a period of time in their lives and those that are regular takers into their later 20s-30s-40s … I agree there will always be an experimental mindset among young people , that’s what growing up is… but people getting destroyed on drink or drugs regularly later in life are doing so because they are in pain… that pain can take many forms but it wont disappear if drugs are suddenly decriminalized - it just makes access easier.

Well then tax the fuck out of off license sales. Surely if alcohol is such a drain on the courts, hospitals etc then it makes sense to tackle the issue.

Online gambling. A physically safe alternative.

they introduced minimum unit pricing and such things to stop the cheap sale of wine and they tried to introduce things like stopping deals on 12 packs I think. They’ve also stopped happy hours and publicans selling drink cheap to entice in young people back in the day, things like buy 6 fat frogs get the 7th free and stuff.

Imagine that, but with crack cocaine

Banning alcohol and legalising MDMA would be a fascinating social experiment.

It’s still way cheaper to buy your beer in a supermarket that it is in a licensed premises. Until that is tackled then alcohol abuse is going to continue to be a massive social problem.

Stop doing them, problem solved, same as alcohol

ah ok, just tell addicts to stop taking drugs then… problem solved

it’s what we tell alcoholics. Why should I have my pleasant evening criminalised because of these losers with no self control?

“Just say No!”

It’s remarkable to see the pro-legalisation advocates resort to the rhetoric of the very people they claimed to be opposed to.

Unfortunately this would neglect the fact that drug addiction is a very serious illness.

just don’t get caught mate, you’ll be grand.

The moose?

Yep

I have no objection to people saying no, people who are tee-totallers, etc. My mother is a life-long pioneer and always told me to drink. She made sure I only took the pledge to 16, instead of 18 like the priest wanted.

Very odd culture-wars nonsense there. What’s wrong with just saying no and what’s wrong with just saying yes? People should do whatever the hell they want without people or the government putting pressure on them.

Just put millions and millions of young black Americans in prison and completely destroy their communities because Cheasty has a problem controlling himself! Very nice person!

MDMA does lead to more crime and violence. Not all drugs affect everyone the same way. You may be in a happy place taking it and stay there. Other people won’t be. It’ll enhance the state you’re already in.

Time to get ahead of the curve and design our drug delivery app … JustE’s , DeliverWoo-Woo … Order before 8pm to get a 2am delivery when our cyclist should be waking up in a ditch somewhere in time for your late night hit… Get 30% off when you refer a friend and 50% off if they are under age!

Actually, the more I think about, the prohibitionists are just unbelievable people. Who do they think they are, telling strangers how to live their lives?

And of course the treatment of alcohol is a relevant argument. Prohibition of alcohol was a complete disaster and just made the situation in the USA far worse. The alcohol situation under prohibition looked identical to the MJ / MDMA situation today. Ending alcohol prohibition improved things. That is obviously a fair and relevant point to make.
