World Darts Championships 2018 @Lakeside - The Greatest Show On Earth

Duzza averaged 99.43 last night which was the highest average at the tournament since Duzza averaged 99.87 in 2015.

Killian is the grandson of Kevin “Heffo” Heffernan, so you’d expect him to have a winning mentality.

Killian sadly fell just short in his bid for glory against defending champion Justin van Tergouw of Holland, who averaged 93.

But at just 15 years of age, he’ll have many more chances to bring glory to Ireland on that famous Lakeside stage.

Deta Hedman is into the ladies’ semi-finals after beating Sharon Prns 2-0. Just two matches away now from creating the sporting story of the year.

The wily Martin Phillips is edging bit by bit back into this last 16 clash against Germany’s young gun Michael Unterbuchner.

Unterbuchner led 2-0 but Martin is now 2-0 up in legs in set 4 and one leg away from levelling the match.

2-2. Michael is getting a bit frustrated, one feels.

The Welsh veteran using all his experience here and you sense he smells weakness in his opponent.

Who is the Geordie on co-commentary duties?

Paul Nicholson?

Is he still a bin man?

I don’t know.Perhaps his LinkedIn page might give the answer.

Michael has kicked into gear again and is now 3-2 and 1-0 up.

Michael wins!

Germany calling for the quarter-finals!

Sadly for Martin he’s a has bin in this tournament but he was very gracious in defeat and warmly congratulated his opponent. Lovely to see such camaraderie between the generations.

Incredible atmosphere between matches at the Home of Darts as the knowledgeable crowd sing along to “Sweet Caroline”, the Match of the Day theme is played, and then the connoisseurs of the arrow belt out that old Irish sporting favourite, “Here We Go”.

Where else would you get it?

Sid obviously doesn’t watch the women’s games. # Darts for all.

Lovely camaraderie from the two ladies back stage. Great to see

Anastasia was clinical there.

Have you not got bored of e-mailing Lorraine Higgins yet, mate?

Anastasia Dobromyslova got bored of Lorraine Winstanley very quickly.

Ran through her like one of Pat McEnaney’s bad chicken kormas, so she did.

Anastasia is better than most of the BDO men.

Box office semi-final line up with the big four all there.

Deta v Lisa
Ana v Trina

Another massive Beneluxian derby next as Geert de Vos takes on Richard Veenstra.

Low countries, high standards.

This is the tie of the last 16 for me.

A mouthwatering prospect.

Exciting start as Richard finally hits madhouse on his twelfth attempt at a double.

The pressure of the Lakeside stage is tangible.
