This âmanufactured hurlerâ line is a lazy throwaway thatâs persisted for years about Dublin.
Show me the hurler that isnât manufactured. Everyone has to learn, everyone has to be coached. Itâs utter bullshit to claim that there are ânaturalâ hurlers. Yes, some children may have better athletic and co-ordination skills than others, but nobody is born with a hurl in their hand.
Now, the supporters, administration and funding are a different matter entirely, granted.
This could have been yours if your grandad hadnât decided 4 young fellas on the land was enough, and so decided to fuck the softest of the lot out on the road to Dublin
It definitely seems to be more of a Dublin thing although there are a few posters here who have a fondness for their auld ladâs home county - myself included. The more irksome aspect of it for me is when some glory hunting Dublin chap supports their auld ladâs county in hurling but Dublin in football. I know a few of these gimps through various jobs down through the years. I think Dublin are primed to become a hurling force provided they make the right managerial appointment. That âmanufactured hurlerâ thing was harsh but had some truth in it but theyâve got some very wristy and knacky / nacky (are knacky or nacky words?) coming through.
I support Dublin in hurling but in Gaelic football I support Down, Armagh, Monaghan and Tyrone in that order, despite having no relations from three of those counties.
