Carnage at the Kerry final. Kilmoyley two down against Lixnaw with time up and they won a penalty. Penalty saved and rebound scored but ref blew the final whistle just as the rebound was struck. Both sides were celebrating for a minute before everyone realised what had happened. Ref needed a Garda escort off the field yet again after a Kerry hurling game
Standard was poor enough today. Serious breeze and very wet made for a greasy pitch which didn’t help. Lot of rucks, mis-hits, missed passes etc. Conway a young lad for Lixnaw was head shoulders knees and toes above everyone else. Absolutely unreal. One of the best individual performances I’ve ever seen.
Had a look at Buffs chatsnap and it differs a fair bit from this. The keeper stopped as soon as he saved it and the Kilmoyley lads went straight to the ref.
In Kerry, there was a remarkable turnaround as Kerins O’Rahilly’s came from nine points down with 10 minutes remaining to stun champions Dr Crokes by 3-18 to 2-17.
Tommy Walsh had two goals for the Tralee side, with Karl Mullins grabbing the winner in injury-time.
All four teams competing in this year’s Carlow Senior Hurling Championship have safely negotiated the round robin phase and advanced to the semi finals.
