All we’re missing now is another article from an English publication having a pop at Sweden. Where’s the Swedish lockdown that the hysterical ones were promising over the holidays? Deaths reported over the past few days (Johns Hopkins site): UK 1,820 two days ago, 1,290 yesterday. Ireland 60, 50 Sweden 12, 3 Lockdowns work apparently. A year into this and the death rate in Ireland is currently significantly worse than Sweden. Cases and deaths have been dropping since mid December in Sweden…

Very dissapointing carry on from them,

Cases within schools across the world have been negligable, ASTI in particular have been shameful.

I don’t blame teachers for it - union bosses have a lot to answer for though.

No offence, but I think that’s bullshit. If there was a backlash from the teachers to the union they’d have changed their tune fairly quickly. No union operates idependently of their members. Easy for them to say they wanted to be back when it suited most of them to be at home.

Yes, but that post was in response to morons (especially the English press variety) who continually compare Sweden to it’s Nordic neighbors as if there is some expected correlation between geography and how a viral disease spreads. If that were true Germany and France should have had similar experiences as they have a 450km land border.

They’ve dragged Ronan Glynn into the press conference here as a shield. A series of questions about what vaccination, case and ICU numbers would be acceptable to ease restrictions on 5 April, which seems reasonable to ask given lack of specifics in the speech. Martin talked around the questions, reiterated points about waiting to see impact of schools reopening and then threw Glynn a “Where do you think we’ll be at the end of March, Ronan?” hospital pass. Glynn also refused to mention any indicators and said it’s too complicated to do so.
