UCD are probably a very nice side as always, game will be played in an empty Richmond Park (what a bizarre venue, couldnt it not be played before the cup final) which will suit UCD as well .
Look, first division standard is utterly abject so UCD are coming off a low base but they are a team of young lads who by tradition play great football but arent physically strong enough to hack it in the premier div, Waterford arent a bad side at all but seemed to implode last few weeks and the 11 fellas playing on friday have no idea if they will still be employed by the club next week win or loose… well if they loose they certainly will offload the whole squad., now with no manager who knows
Its a very difficult game to call really, Waterford have to be a better side but the key question is now do any of the players there actually give a shit about the game…i couldnt call it really

UCD are just going up to be relegated, so it’s a bit of an indictment on the standard of the rest. Cork need to get up ASAP.
If Waterford go down it would be the North West & extended Dublin Region league.

its awful really, obviously the whole thing was built on sand but that team from 2003-2008 , ok then we had Arkaga ( fucking hell) and then again somewhat from say 2014-2018 were fantastic.
The glory days there of the mid 00s, what a time to be alive as a LOI supporter, that 2008 Setanta Cup final v Glentoran on a November Saturday night was the best Irish football occassion ever on this island IMHO… it was absolutely class… then a few weeks later they were in the High Court, its sad… and in fairness Brian Lennox and i know people question Arkaga but Christ above they did invest in the thing, the just didnt see any money coming back and then pulled the plug… ah look

The Cork City / Shelbourne rivalry back then was superb, it was box office stuff at times with Damien Richardson’s program notes a must read
given that rovers are of no fixed abode for so long, its easy to see why northsiders would support them
