Sinn Fein - Populism and Partionism

Blairs Labour had no experience either and were able to hit the ground running

Yep. And probably didnā€™t inherit such a basket case.

If I was Simon Harris Iā€™d pull the trigger at the end of this week for an election on November 15th.

Not just because SF are all over the place but because all the bot farms in the world will be preoccupied with the US election. If Harris waits until February or March, these bot farms wonā€™t be preoccupied. In that sort of an environment there remains considerable scope for SF to make media bias a serious campaign issue, and not unreasonably so.

I think Fine Gael could yet have big problems in a campaign that isnā€™t overshadowed by the US election. Personally I think Pascal Donohue losing his seat (if he runs) could be the big shock.

A while back I flagged FF to win most seats in the election at 7/1 as a good bet. Thatā€™s now down to 3/1.

Pasquel is the only competetant one of the lot of them

All the more reason for Paddy to vote him out.

Pascal will have questions to answer as to why he was allegedly doing Israelā€™s bidding for it.

In case the accusation of media bias is used to cloud the issue - this latest statement from Brian Stanley is intriguing

This story seems to have died a death. Did he say he didnā€™t have a call with them? That seems to have been the end of it.

All very odd. If it isnā€™t a criminal offence, why would they be referring it to the guards?
@myboyblue , @Kid_Curry who is likely to be the Sinn FĆ©in candidate now. Theyā€™ve lost two current TDs from the old Laois Offaly constituency now.

Iā€™d say theyā€™re wondering this themselves. It certainly wont be Cllr Dwaneā€¦

Lorna Holohan Garry has run in the past 2 so sheā€™ll be in the reckoning as will Aaron Kelly.

Are they trying to avoid criticism that they didnā€™t go to the Guards like previous scandals? Who knows, SF seems to be a shambles.

Donā€™t mind Pasquel helping Israel, thereā€™s a kangaroo court to be reported on.Get with the programme lad.

If they got the fantastic pillows recommended to me on black Friday by @Copper_pipe this issue wouldnā€™t have arisen as Stanley would be preoccupied by the comfort of the pillows.

So Stanley tried to pull a fast one with some young lady looking for a job in the European Parliament.Whos the border TD heā€™s talking about,Pauline T ?

Hmmm. The horseshit delivery van is here! Kelly was minister for less than 2 years between the intellectual geniuses of Phil Hogan and Simon Coveney before your Pal Murphy and yet the trouble is all on him? Sure he spent most of his time trying to deal with the shitshow that was the water charges that Hogan had brought in. Its like trying to say United are shit because of Ralf Ragnickā€¦
Kelly also brought legislation to speed up planning considerably.

Thereā€™s a fierce bang of Eoghan Harris off that Twitter account.

Practically a decade of FG ministers of Housing and Finance, whose policies directly led to the current crisis, and Dimmy blames Alan Kelly. You couldnā€™t make it up.

Yup- still dates to him and Labourā€™s time in government. Less than 40k houses built in 5 years. There was 33k built last year and likely 36k this year. And that is the highest per capita in Europe.

Just making the point that the shitness came from there. You talk about people ignoring problems but perhaps it is that they actually see some improvement and donā€™t want to go back to your mates in cabinet. :man_shrugging:

Reality- the chronic housing shortage emanates from the years when Labour were in Government as well as Fine Gael.

Another reality, construction picked up once Labour left government. It has gone from the lowest in Europe per capita to the highest.

I donā€™t agree with parties getting total blame, but I find it funny when the likes of @Juhniallio tries it himself here in this scenario.
