Saw a picture in the paper he was linesman recently for one of the county championship games so must be doing a bit anyway
The Cork camogie set didnāt seem to be too enamoured with Davyās performance on the line on Sunday in the All Ireland Final.
Ya heās back. He done Loughmore v Kiladangan in round 1.
More in his line to call into Kiely across the road in the Abbey and pick up a few pointersā¦
He was on the point of being removed from the National Panel if he continued to refuse to referee games in his own county.
Was thinking that.
Michael Kennedy is on his coat tails.
Itās a disgrace that Tipperary or other counties canāt have more than one ref on it if they are good enough.
Kennedy is on the cusp of being a very good inter-county referee. A little over fussy but is generally spot on with his decision making.
He has all the tools but is in danger of turning into another Johnny Murphy if he listens to some of them clowns in Croke Park.
It doesnāt ever seem to hinder Johnnyās career, bizarrely
They love him up there, sure. A pure creation of the paint-by-numbers gobshites in charge of the Games Officials Committee. Trust me, I know.
Heāll ref the next All-Ireland that Limerick arenāt in.
Waterford back training on Tramore beach tomorrow morning.
Shrewd move
Seamus Power needs to join LIV!
Nailed on to retain their league title now.
āA national title, Joanneā
Waterford are a bit like an African country in association football who have a deep seated inferiority complex about appointing a native as manager. They much prefer the hurling equivalents of your Bruno Metsus or Carlos Queirozes or Phillippe Troussiers or Bora Milutinovices.
But it was a Waterford man who got them by far the closest theyāve been to winning an All-Ireland in the last 59 years.
In fairness given the native appointments either side of Derek I could see why they might have that inferiority complex about their own.
Waterford have been 13 All Ireland semi finals in the last 20 years since 2002. Only Kilkenny have been in more in that time period. For a team who were viewed across 2020 and 2021 as second best after Limerick and were second favourites at the outset of 2022, this is a really underwhelming appointment. Davy would be grand in Laois or Offaly or even Dublin at this stage.
Were you just bullshitting there?
No. Thereās a lot of opposition to this appointment across the board in Waterford. It was presented as a fair accompli at the County Board meeting in Lawlors Hotel tonight. 8 speakers from the floor, 4 spoke vociferously against this appointment and how the whole process was carried out. They were told to shut up, that dissent wouldnāt be tolerated. @Fagan_ODowd has summed it up best here as to the calibre of administrator you have in the Waterford County Board making important decisions like this.
