Talk about an obsession

Talk about obsession and you went to the trouble of looking up the posts.

What about away to Georgia, home and away to Gibraltar, away to Switzerland where a win would have put us through? Any comment on those performances?

We took 7 points from the Gibralter games and Georgia away - that was a solid haul. We have always struggled away to the likes of Georgia and the Gibralter away game was on an astro game played in a wind tunnel and it was Mick’s first game back where they had a few days prep which somewhat explains the performance. The way you go on about it you would swear that we consistently played well in these type of games over the last 30 odd years or something when the performances and results in those games was pretty much par for the course for the national team.

Switzerland are a far better side than us and deservedly topped the group, they were the better team on the night as often happens when we play better sides away from home. It was nowhere near as bad as the performance away to Scotland in Euro 2016 qualifying or the no show at home to Serbia in WC2018 qualifying group or the hammering off Denmark in the WC play offs or the hammerings we took home and away from Germany in the WC 2014 qualifying campaign or the gutless display against England a few months back to name but a few.

Georgia are probably better than Ireland technically but lack a bit of cut . Over the last 7 years or so our games have been very very tight .

Ah come here. Switzerland away was as bad any performance under O’Neill. Pitiful stuff.

O’neills team won away to Georgia.

Switzerland are a top side. What’s your point here?

Marginally and with no little luck . We only drew with them in Tbilisi in 2018 WC qualifiers .

My point is that the games were tight and we have no god given right to beat them .

Through a last minute goal out of nothing from Aidan McGeady. Performance wise there was no real difference between how we played there under O’Neill and McCarthy.

I had notice that alright mate

But O’Neill was a dinosaur and Mick played great football apparently.

According to who? Yet again you are dealing in mistruths and are incapable of any kind of critical thinking.

A schooling took place here today.

And yet despite it all, you’d not like to see Mick turn up around any side you have a liking for at this stage.

I’d take him at Celtic

Id take him back at Ipswich in the morning. We would be back in the championship in 18 months

He was a great championship manager
